Oregon Wins the Pac-10 Battle

There are few teams I like to see lose more than I like to see USC lose. Sorry, Trojan fans. So, this weekend was pretty glorious from my standpoint. Oregon warmly welcomed USC into Autzen Stadium, and then proceeded to hand them their asses on a plate, winning 47 – 20.
Yes, you read that correctly. Forty-seven points. That’s the most points USC has ever given up since a very high-scoring game at UCLA in 1996. The entire Oregon team was on fire, but the major difference in this game was quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. He had 222 passing yards, 164 rushing …read more

Who Will QB for the Trojans in 2009?

With Mark Sanchez out of the picture, the question on every USC fan’s mind is this: who will lead the Trojans to the National Championship in 2009? First string belongs to Aaron Corp right now, as per decisions at the end of spring training, but head coach Pete Carroll is known for playing whoever he damn well pleases, even if there are older players on the roster.
One person who hopes to have a chance even though he doesn’t have any college experience is freshman Matt Barkley, according to reports. The team started working out on Saturday, and this young quarterback …read more

Rose Bowl Rules Change

For the first time ever, teams outside of the Pac-10 and Big Ten have a good chance of playing in the Rose Bowl, the granddaddy of all of the BCS bowls, according to reports. Well, maybe “good” is a strong word, but considering that both conferences have championship contenders most years, it is at least a possibility.
Under the nex rule, which will be in effect from 2010 to 2013, if the Pac-10 or Big Ten has their conference champion playing in the National Championship game, the Rose Bowl must take a non-BCS team, if one qualifies. Otherwise, the game will …read more

Tim Floyd Resigns From USC

About a month ago, I wrote a post about USC’s Tim Floyd and how there were rumors circulating that he “bought” OJ Mayo. An investigation by the NCAA ensued and is still underway. Yet, Tim Floyd took matters into his own hands and recently resigned as head coach.
I know that you are innocent until proven guilty, but when you bow out like this it only makes everyone think that you are guilty. According to Rivals.com, “Floyd didn’t address the allegation in his letter to USC athletic director Mike Garrett, which was obtained by the Clarion-Ledger and also released by USC …read more

Pete Carroll Pens a New Book

Just in case you can’t get enough of USC’s head coach Pete Carroll and his awesome “we’re better than you” attitude, he’s writing a new book, due out…well, sometime in the future. No date’s been announced yet.
Carroll’s new book will have “previously untold details and anecdotes about USC football,” as well as information about leadership, team-building advice, and off-field activities.
The name of the book? Win Forever. Sigh. Are you really surprised at that one?
As much as I hate USC (give me a break, I’m a Big Ten fan), I will say that I love the fact that Carroll will be …read more

VIDEO – Darren McFadden vs. Jonathan Stewart

Ah yes… it’s almost time for some fantasy football drafts to take place. Soon, it will be your pick. Take a look at your draft sheet – it’s time for a running back. Which of these rookie backs do you want on your team; Darren McFadden or Jonathan Stewart?
For me, it’s an easy choice. I watch Run DMC tear it for three seasons for the Arkansas Razorbacks. In my opinion, McFadden has everything and more than last year’s rookie phenom Adrian Peterson. Sure, Stewart is probably going to have a passing game on his …read more
