Every now and then a popular website gets hacked and tons of user passwords are published for everyone to see. On one side, it can potentially lead to huge losses to the users whose passwords have been compromised. On the other, security analysts use the data to gain various insights.
In one such recent attack, Robert Graham, the CEO of Errata Security, came to a few startling conclusions based on the passwords published showing what should not be your password:

16% of passwords matched a person’s first name
14% of passwords were patterns on the keyboard
4% are variations of the word “password”

I’ve been a big fan of Billeo for a long time and more recently Vidoop (with their cross-browser, online storage, secure password management system) for password management. I have over 150 different logins to sites and it’s easy to forget which one I used where. The “Forgot Your Password” link is a pain to use — type your info, answer challenge questions, check your email, and finally choose a new password that has never been used before. This is not the way to save your passwords

Look, I know 15 character, multi-symboled, including 3 numbers and 4 capital letter passwords are no picnic or walk in the park and should probably be outlawed but this is no way to store them. There are plenty of password managers out there like KeePass, Billeo, and PassPack (now known as Passpack) — so please use them instead of this.
