The Dream MMA Promotion is set to hold Dream 9 on May 26th. Paulo Filho who was technically the last WEC Welterweight champion was not picked up by the UFC after it’s sister promotion, WEC dropped the Welterweight and light-heavyweight classes.
His last fight was suppose to be a title fight and a rematch with Chael Sonnen. Filho didn’t make weight and the title fight was changed to a non-title match for 3 rounds. The fight went the full three rounds and Sonnen ended up winning by decision.

Wow, November is over all ready and the end of 2008 is right around the corner. Where the hell does the time go? We’ve seen some exciting fights this year and it can only get better…or can it? Paulo Filho enter the ring to a lot of boos (and even more boos when introduced) and not looking in the best of shape. Sonnen showed some emotion during the pre-fight promo cuts and looked nervous and emotional coming to the ring. No title on the line due to Filho not making weight. Paulo Filho Has weighed in for his first attempt to make the 185 limit for his upcoming fight tomorrow night against Chael Sonnen. Filho weighed in at 192, 7 pounds over the limit. He has two hours to cut the weight.
