eat Cricket, drink Cricket, sleep Cricket
The other day someone was asking around, “Where’s the Gary Kirsten?” I recalled we had done one post on Gary Kirsten some time back, and then forgot all about him.
He deserves one more.
Perth : Day 2 : Business as usual
I nearly started this entry with “Despite our best intentions” but I thought better of it. Why? Because I don’t think you can really doubt England going about things with their best intentions. Many punters around the various blogs and forums have described England’s lack of commitment as “shameful”, suggesting that our men are not giving it everything. It’s perhaps not a bad conclusion to draw, as on all too many occasions it seems that England have simply stopped trying or taken the outcome of a game as a given. No such criticism could ever be levelled at the Australians. …read more
Perth : Preview
With what feels like an eternity since Adelaide, we’re finally going to start playing cricket again. The stakes in this match couldn’t have been more widely attested: England must win to stay in with a chance. A draw here would be sufficient, but a win would do wonders. 2-1 behind with 2 to play doesn’t sound quite so bad. And despite Monty not getting the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, which is a travesty in my book, it doesn’t matter because Fletcher cannot possibly ignore the boomingly loud voice from those people who are as …read more
Ahead of Perth
Despite the 3rd Test, hell, the rest of the series being moreorless a foregone conclusion, all England fans*, myself included, will be watching avidly to see if England could actually get any worse than at Adelaide. Or Brisbane. Doesn’t matter which. The point is they must get better, and they must win this match. (A draw would be OK, but a task of 2 from 2 would be impossible.)
So, in the build up to the crucial encounter at the WACA, have England opted to keep it simple, keep their heads down, and just quietly get about their duty. Hahaha. Of …read more
