Shannon Brown Finds A Home In L.A.

After being traded to his fourth team in three years, Shannon Brown may have finally found a home. The Charlotte Bobcats traded him and Adam Morrison to the Los Angeles Lakers halfway through the 2009 season, but this time he may actually stay with the team.
Brown stepped up the 2009 NBA playoffs and made significant contributions off the bench while Morrison continued to ride the pine.
Phil Jackson certainly had confidence in Brown’s play. And the Lakers‘ owner took notice. As a result, Brown will receive a two-year, $4.2 million contract with the second season at his option. If he wants …read more

Shannon Brown Inks Deal with Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Shannon Brown in the middle of the 2008-09 NBA season. He was expected to produce but his energetic play and toughness soon made him a Phil Jackson favorite. On Monday, the Lakers rewarded the free agent with a two-year deal worth slightly more than $4 million.
The deal, which was reported by ESPN.com, will provide guard depth for Los Angeles. With Derek Fisher aging and Jordan Farmar still looking for his niche in the NBA, Brown is a low-risk insurance policy that can pay off big.

This is obviously painful for not only Yao but Rocket nation as well. The fans and the players really thought Houston could compete with the Lakers and even possibly beat them. Now it looks like a rather bleak proposition, but I wouldn’t rule Houston out just yet.
Of course Houston is a better team with Yao playing 30+ minutes a game, that’s not the issue.

Andrew Bynum to Return to Lakers Thursday?

Andrew Bynum, the center for the Los Angeles Lakers who has missed the last 32 games due to a torn MCL in his right knee, is set to return to the lineup against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night. The Lakers, who have already clinched the best record in the Western Conference, would become even more dangerous.
This rumor is courtesy of Chris Broussard at ESPN The Magazine. According to Broussard, his source is close to the Lakers.
With the NBA playoffs beginning on April 18th, the Lakers will likely try to accelerate Bynum’s acclimation back into the fold. In fact, head …read more

Some Guys Just Like To Cry Foul

I’ve been playing ball with boys (I guess I could call them guys now) since I was 10 years old. I grew up watching them cry and complain on the court at the playground. They’d argue a foul, swear at one another and then try to show-up each other will silly Jordan-like (which were anything BUT Jordan-like) moves.
That was the one and only reason I didn’t like playing ball with guys. Of course, I will admit that I definitely became a better ball player by playing with them. I hate to admit it ladies, but guys are just in a …read more
