Tomorrow marks the start of Philly Beer Week, a ten day celebration of beer in the City of Brotherly Love. So, whether you live in the area already or you’re thinking of a long weekend, check out the events and consider stopping in.
Unfortunately, I’ll be reporting from the UK for almost the same exact period of time (oh the irony), so you’ll have to tell me how it is.

I’ve mentioned in the last few posts that I’ll be missing almost the entirety of Philly beer week, which leads to the more important question – where will I be? Well, it’s important in that I need any advice or information on breweries or pubs in the area and that I’d like to pass that information on to the rest of you.

We’ll be spending a week on the south coast of the UK, in a small town called Rye. I’ve found this article about the town’s pubs, so I know there are at least two or three worth considering (and I know at least Paul McCartney likes the area). Apparently, the Dover area in particular has a legacy of brewing which largely died out in the 1970s and 1980s during brewery consolidation, much like what happened here in the US. Unfortunately, most of the remaining brewing regions in the UK appear to be somewhat north and east of where we’ll be, so if any of you happy readers out there know of good breweries or brewpubs in the region please add a comment so I can check it out.
