Can it be true? It turns out that the PlayStation 2 has now reached an incredible milestone, selling an astounding 50 million units in North America. Too bad there are no new big titles on the horizon, as Persona 4 was probably the last big game for the console. Here are today’s headlines:

It’s Thursday, and you know what that means: another PSN update. This week we have some new games, a new Qore episode, and even a new addition to Home. There should also be a few interesting tidbits coming out CES this year, so stay tuned.
Home is getting a new area this week, with Red Bull Island. In addition to a whole bunch of advertising, the new area will give users the chance to explore the tropical island in planes and helicopters.
The next episode of Qore is on its way, and with it comes an exclusive F.E.A.R 2 demo.

Best PS3 Game – LittleBigPlanet
Though it may appear to be a simple platformer at first, LittleBigPlanet is so much more. The game provides a wealth of level creation tools and a YouTube-style level sharing system, giving players an almost endless supply of levels. Add in an absolutely adorable art style and terrrificly whimsical soundtrack, and you have the best PS3 experience of 2008.

It’s Monday, and it’s almost time to take some time off for the holidays. But in the mean time, there is plenty of interesting gaming news today, especially if for fans of PSN games.
The Spike Video Game Awards were this weekend, and Media Molecule won studio of the year and PS3 game of the year for LittleBigPlanet.
Also at the VGAs, God of War III and Uncharted 2 both debuted brand new trailers.
