Plaxico Burress Pleads Guilty, Gets 2 Years

Plaxico Burress is headed to prison for two years thanks to pleading guilty to a gun charge in New York. Burress faced at least three and a half years in prison if he would have taken the case to trial.
While Burress could be eligible to get out of prison in 20 months, his NFL football career may be over. The 32-year-old will miss the next two NFL seasons and then may face an additional suspension after his release. There likely won’t be a market for a 34- or 35-year-old wide receiver who has been out of the league for years.

According to a Yahoo Sports article, Roger Goodell is likely to suspend Plaxico Burress and Michael Vick indefinitely. Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, has been strict in his short time and the helm and could reportedly make an example out of Burress and Vick.
An indefinite suspension for Burress and Vick would likely keep both players from participating in the 2009 NFL season. Although the move by Goodell would be somewhat surprising, it would align with his goal of cleaning up the league’s image.
Vick was recently released from prison but hasn’t yet served a suspension from the NFL. If his …read more

Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, has started to consider the futures of Plaxico Burress and Michael Vick. How long will Burress and Vick get suspended? We will likely find out relatively soon.
The Burress situation will be more difficult for Goodell to figure out. Burress is facing gun charges but his trial has been delayed. Will Goodell punish Burress with an NFL suspension even before his case is heard in front of a judge? Most experts believe that Goodell could very well suspend Burress for at least the first couple games of the 2009 NFL season — whether or …read more

Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is reportedly drawing interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to the report by Steve Wyche on NFL.com, the Bucs likely contacted Burress’ agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Burress, who was the Super Bowl MVP for the Giants during the 2007 Super Bowl championship, was waived by New York over the offseason. Not only did the talented wide receiver have a falling out with the coaching staff, he’s facing legal troubles that could possibly land him in jail.
Currently, the two biggest receiving threats for Tampa Bay are wide receiver Antonio Bryant and tight end Kellen …read more

Plaxico Burress Gets a Cool Million

So… remember when Plaxico Burress shot himself (accidentally) in the leg back in November? He was out partying, inexplicably took out his gun and in doing so shot himself in the leg. Anywho, he couldn’t play after that (obviously) and then was released by the Giants last week.
He had a bonus the Giants had been holding on to, saying that Burress didn’t earn it (since it didn’t play.) Seems reasonable, right?
But with the NFL, things having to do with players and their bad behaviors are seldom logical. This week an arbitrator said Burress could …read more
Plaxico Burress Cheers on Michigan State

On Friday, Plaxico Burress was released by the New York Giants. On Saturday, Burress was in Detroit as he cheered on Michigan State in the Final Four. With Burress leading the cheers, Michigan State won and is heading to the title game.
Burress wasn’t in a talkative mood at the 2009 Final Four contest. The only question he answered was when he said he felt great following his release from the Giants.
Born in Virginia, Burress attended Michigan State before being selected in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 6-foot-5 Burress established himself as a wide receiver who was …read more
Plaxico Burress Shoots Himself in the Foot

Plaxico Burress, the lanky and talented wide receiver for the New York Giants, shot himself in the foot on Friday night. Burress was admitted into the hospital but was released on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, it was only a flesh wound and shouldn’t have a negative long-term affect on Plaxico’s NFL career.
(To be technically correct, the shooting was an accident … and it was closer to his thigh than his foot. But those facts get in the way of a good headline.)
After helping the Giants win the Super Bowl last season, Burress has been a disaster this year. His play on …read more
