I know Barry Greenstein is supposed to be awesome, but his game has never impressed me. I’ve seen Humberto on TV many times, but usually his presence is more about “D Chark” than it is great card play.

Here are some of the stars:

If you look at the official WCP webpage, Germany is the 2008 WCP V Champions. However, the clip I have is of Daniel Negreanu and his fellow Canadiens discussing the event as dated January 9, 2009. I’ll go ahead and email PokerStars to get the official word.

The World Cup of Poker is an event hosted by PokerStars featuring 10 poker teams representing their individual countries. What I’m a little bit confused about is whether the PokerStars page is current or the 2009 WCP has already taken place.

If you look at the official WCP webpage, Germany is the 2008 WCP V Champions. However, the clip I have is of Daniel Negreanu and his fellow Canadiens discussing the event as dated January 9, 2009. I’ll go ahead and email PokerStars to get the official word.

Before Germany won in 2008, the United States took home the crown. Typically each squad of 5 has an established pro (though not always recognizable) who is supported by lesser known poker talent to round out the team. In past years Greg Raymer has led the US, Philip Helm has led Poland, and of course there is Daniel with Team Canada.

Edit: I think I already have my answer and all it took was an auto reply.

Hello,
This is an automated reply.

The next World Cup of Poker live event will be held in The Bahamas in
January 2010. Online qualifiers will begin in later in 2009.

If you have a general inquiry, please contact support@pokerstars.com

Regards,
PokerStars
