Tony G Makes an Embarrassing Mistake

If you’ve read this blog or searched for Tony G videos on YouTube, you know Tony has achieved a great deal of fame for his atrocious behavior in berating Ralph Perry. Well he gave himself some payback with an embarrassing move against Andrew Black that admittedly left him “shattered”. Take a look.
I think I’ve done this once before when I started playing poker. It is somewhat embarrassing and even more frustrating in that you’ve put yourself in a losing situation (his hand could have been potentially called dead). He did luckily take the pot, but he …read more

As the WSOP winds down, heads will now tun to the $50,000 Horse event which Scotty Nguyen embarrassingly but entertainingly won last year.
Here is the video of shame for Scotty’s legacy. He has since apologized and acknowledged that he drank too …read more
E-Checks Are Working Again… For Now
June 23, 2009 by Kris Jones

Online communities (pokerforums.org, twoplustwo.com) are chattering with joy as poker players are once again able to send e-check payments. Though I have no personal knowledge, a friend has confirmed these reports to me. However, I haven’t heard of anyone being able to cash out through e-checks which is the key to all of this.
This blogger recommends U.S. players go ahead not deposit any more money as getting it back is no sure thing. Plus, you’ve got to worry about the e-checks. (haha)
In other significant non-WSOP poker news, Durrr has erased a large Patrick Antonius lead in the Durrrr Challenge and …read more
Another Poker Movie on the Way?

Though it drew a mild reception at the box office, Rounders was a colosal smash among poker aficionados at home. Many including myself have labeled it as the driving force behind actively pursuing poker. Recently Bluff Magazine ran a story on Leonardo DiCaprio teaming up with the writers of Rounders to make a movie about online poker.
The movie would revolve around poker and its large presence in Costa Rica.
Please let this finally be a good poker movie. I like so many other poker fans have been wishing for an actual poker movie (not a movie with poker in it) that …read more
Tom McEvoy Wins a Corvette; Russ Hamilton

Tom McEvoy can now be called a champion among champions. McEvoy was the sole survivor among a group of 20 past WSOP main event champions and for winning he will be the recipient of a Classic 1970 Corvette and Binion’s Trophy Cup. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have some gold, diamonds, or cold hard cash.
Amazingly, I haven’t been able to dig up much on the Russ Hamilton apparent no-show. I did find some interesting snippets though. First, Hamilton’s portrait has been hidden behind an escalator (not sure how long). Second, there is another giant picture of Russ …read more
“Let’s Shuffle Up And Deal” – WSOP in Play

The WSOP tournament has officially kicked off with the casino employees $500 tournament. Phil Hellmuth and Tournament director Jack Effel were on hand to announce stiffer penalty enforcement and Hellmuth got the honors of saying Shuffle Up and Deal. Phil Hellmuth is involved in everything poker so it’s not surprising to me that he got the nod, but it seems odd that a player in the tournament is involved in the commencement.
I really like the tournament for casino employees because it’s a way of letting them get directly involved in the games without having to put up mammoth …read more
FullTilt Poker Gets A Major Facelift

FullTilt Poker has changed the face of it’s operations. Once sporting a more centralized theme template with a green background, FullTilt now boasts a black and gray, glossy Web 2.0 feel on it’s homepage.
FullTilt’s two headliners grace the cover with the nod going to Chris Ferguson at center stage. Ferguson is staring right in your face as you open up the page. The other primary FullTilt star, Phil Ivey is surprisingly off to the side, his face surfacing through a video waiting to be played. The classic casino red and white colors come into play just below Chris Ferguson where …read more
Should You Hire A Poker Coach?
May 9, 2009 by Kris Jones

I don’t recommend hiring a poker coach, generally. The first reason is there are a lot of complications when you are looking for someone to teach you Texas Hold’em lessons. After considering the problems associated with finding a poker coach, it’s probably better to learn on your own.
The most obvious problem about hiring a poker coach is knowing whether the coach himself/herself knows what they’re talking about. Believe me there are plenty of people that would love to tell you what to do while you pay their buy-ins that can’t play a lick of poker. So this is one problem. …read more
FullTilt Pros Give Tips on Bluffing

I love Gavin Smith. He has such the laidback, I’ll play anything at anytime approach to Texas Hold’em that so few do that I’ve become a huge fan. In this video, some of the FullTilt crew give a handful of tips on bluffing. Phil Gordon started things off very awkwardly when he said don’t bluff when you have a hand… ok moving right along. David Williams made his appearance on the show curious when he proclaimed that he really doesn’t bluff anymore. And why, David, are you on this program?
I’m not a fan of Annie Duke so I’ll skip right …read more
I Won My Poker Home Game
April 26, 2009 by Kris Jones

I finally did it. I broke the losing streak and took home a shiny figurative trophy from Bonerack’s House o’ Poker. I even learned about a bigger regular tournament I may enter into on occasion. There were only 7 players so Pete made the cut off on winnings 2 and it worked out nicely for me as I grossed $100 with no re-buys made.
Its going to take another 2 or 3 wins for me to get back into the green at Bonerack’s, but I am very happy about winning today. I didn’t play especially well, but what I did do …read more
