Why Don’t You Go Google Yourself

Yesterday I was Googling myself to see which results appeared first. For years I was always out-ranked by Ellen Ewart, vice president, investor and media relations at Foundation Coal Holdings, Inc. But now, my name dominates 8 of the top 10 search results. It’s now time to manage those results to ensure I’m presenting myself in the best light.
Some entries are within reach if, for example, you have a Linked In profile, a public Facebook page, MySpace page or any other form of social networking page, or if you have a personal blog. Make sure that these profiles reflect the …read more

Obama Brand Gets Another Boost – This Time from Colin Powell

As if the Barack Obama brand couldn’t get any stronger in the final weeks leading up to the 2008 Presidential election in the United States, this week, Colin Powell endorsed Obama.
Powell has a long history in U.S. politics and a strong brand image.  It’s the icing on the cake for Obama, particularly as he tells the nation that Powell would be an integral advisor if he is elected, even suggesting that he’d offer Powell a formal role in his administration if Powell were interested.
On the flip side, Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live this week doing little …read more

Obama or McCain – Who Would You Rather Spend July 4th With?

It’s Independence Day here in the United States, so I thought it would be appropriate to do a political branding post today.
Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain represent very different political brands and communicate very different brand messages.  July 4th is a day to celebrate partriotism and democracy.  With that in mind, who would you rather spend July 4th with?
Cast your vote and leave a comment below to tell Brandcurve readers why!

The World Weighs in on U.S. Presidential Candidates Brand Images

A study of people around the globe by Pew Research Center shows that the international community likes Barack Obama’s brand image more than John McCain’s.  I suppose this isn’t a surprise.
The research shows that the world expects the next U.S. President to improve the country’s policies internationally, and they think Barack Obama will have a greater impact in implementing that change than John McCain.
Check out the results below which show the percentage of people who have “a lot or some confidence” in each U.S. Presidential candidate:

Barack Obama Unveils His Presidential Election Brand Strategy

He hasn’t won the Democratic nomination yet, but that’s not stopping Barack Obama from talking about his brand strategy against Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain.
According to the Associated Press, Barack Obama defined his brand message against the Republican competition today when he said:
“In a contest between myself and John McCain, there is going to be a very clear choice on policy that I don’t think is going to have to do with ideology and who theoretically is more liberal or who’s more conservative. I think it is going to have to do with who has a plan to provide relief …read more

Hillary Clinton Tries to Change Her Brand Image

On the eve of what’s been dubbed “Super Tuesday II” Hillary Clinton made a last ditch effort to change her brand image by appearing on Jon Stewart’s very popular The Daily Show on Comedy Central last night.
The Daily Show has become a primary place for Americans to get political information, and Clinton decided to embrace the audience who watches TV in an attempt to rally votes.
Looks like it worked based on early exit polls. Of course, polls are still open, so things could change, but it looks like Hillary Clinton’s campaign has lived another day.
