Swine Flu Update: Smithfield Foods Safe

While the Swine Flu still has millions of people around the world concerned, the United States’ largest processor, marketer and producer of pork products says that their products are safe. Smithfield Foods, which has pork sales of approximately $12 billion, says that they haven’t found the swine flu in any of its pigs or in any of its employees.
Though the swine flu is believed to be only passed from human-to-human contact, it’s highly advisable to thoroughly cook all pork products to eliminate any danger. Purchasing Smithfield Foods products could also be a good idea.

U.S. Pork Industry Says Their Meat is Safe

In recent days, an outbreak of swine flu in Mexico has people around the world worried about the safety of pork products. According to reports out of Mexico, more than 1,000 have become sick and around 90 people have died. However, the National Pork Board says that their pork products are safe now and will continue to be safe in the future.
Many experts in the medical community insist that the pork products are safe as long as they are properly cooked. Additionally, the swine flu outbreak is believed to be from person-to-person contact and not due to food contamination.
