When I’m working onsite with a client though I’m almost always packing in a Dell 17" LCD monitor with me to setup and work with while there. You see, I’ve started working with dual-monitors and now I can’t hardly stand to work without them. Thus always carrying around a monitor in addition to my laptop bag. I do get a few looks from people that either think I’m stealing a monitor. Many of them I’m sure have never worked with dual-monitors though and just don’t get it.

The ability to have in my case 32"+ of screen real-estate is extremely valuable to me. I’m not worried about travelling light and mobile with the smallest netbook in my pocket. I’m interested in having as much computing power as I can, including monitor, in as portable a fashion as I can imagine. That doesn’t necessarily mean light.  What’s more important to me is quick and easy deployment.

I’ve been working on an idea for a self-standing monitor case that would protect the screen during transport and unfold around it to serve as a stand when you’re setup. Of course that is until someone develops me a laptop like this one.

Since I’m unpacking and packing up almost daily, I’m more interested in a monitor where the cables are quick to attach, remove and store. The same goes with other peripherals too, but improving the experience for those of us addicted to working with two monitors would be my priority.

Working with Dual-Monitors Is a Must

a trusted source has given us a little more to go by on the hardware end, including a few specs we more or less expected or heard, such as that the Zune should have a 30GB drive, black, brown, and cotton color options, FM tuner, 13 first party accerrories available at launch (and who knows how many 3rd party accessories), and a 50% larger screen than the iPod with video (making it 3.75-inches if you’re talking diagonal, and not areal). The jucier bits, however, are that we can all expect to find out some hard information from Microsoft in August, and that the player is slated to launch on November 14th, right in time for the holiday buying season (what a huge surprise). Zune Landing on November 14th

If you didn’t catch it already, in my absence my fearless tech channel editor Jon Watson, published a post about Microsoft’s “iPod killer”.

After visiting the site he referenced, www.comingzune.com, all I have to say is “What the heck is that?”

What is “Zune”? I’ve subscribed to their newsletter so maybe I’ll find out. If I had to go by the little animation/movie thingy, I wouldn’t know what to expect. Why not play more off the Xbox 360 popularity and come up with some other name/brand? I mean if you’re really going to label yourself an “iPod killer”, why not do something like ePad and add the gaming, music, pda functionality to the mix. Or, what about TuneBox? Or, FunBox? Or, Mobi360
