Last week on ECW Bobby Lashley faced Hardcore Holly. Lashley came out on top but Snitsky appeared to revenge Holly’s loss. This week we will get a rematch between Hardcore and Lashley but this time it is going to be under extreme rules. For ECW to have extreme in their name yet seemingly move away from the concept seemed absurd to me but I am glad to see they are bringing it back tonight for the main event.
Also tonight, expect more clashes between the ECW originals and the “New Breed” ad I would expect a full fledged feud to continue.

Obviously the biggest news from this match was Christian Cage retaining the title as the feud between him and Angle will in all likely continue at least until the next PPV. I am thinking the Sting/Abyss storyline is done but we will have to wait until Thurday’s show to find that out. Impact this week is going to be rough as they will be directly against Raw, especially after TNA just wrapped a PPV. Looks like I’ll have to do some channel flipping.
There were some unanswered questions this week after SmackDown. Perhaps the most pressing is what other matches are going to be added to No Way Out. Added this week to the card were a Four Team Ladder Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship between WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick, William Regal & Dave Taylor, MNM, and The Hardys. Also added last night was a Kane v. Booker singles match. Right now there are only 3 matches along with a diva talent competition on the card so we have to assume there will be at least 2 more matches added. The most obvious match would appear to be Finlay v. Boogeyman.

Also, it is amazing the push that Deuce and Domino are getting recently beating London and Kendrick two weeks in a row in non-title matches. I am surprised they weren’t included in the No Way Out match in place of Regal and Taylor but we will just have to wait and see who wins the tag titles before their push either drops off or continues. This week should have several match announcements so stay tuned for more news on the upcoming card for No Way Out.

Apparently ECW’s idea to reform the show is to have a feud between the “New Breed” and the “ECW Originals”. Considering how little this show seemed to have going for it this may not be a bad move, I’ll at least give it a fair chance. The originals include RVD, Sabu, Sandman, and Tommy Dreamer while the new breed includes Marcus Corvon, Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn, and Matt Striker.

Mr. McMahon said coming into last nights episode that he was going to “Punish” the ECW orginals. Their punishment? Some of them would be in matches on the show but the catch was that they couldn’t interfere in the matches or they would be fired.

First watch of the night is Tommy Dreamer against Kevin Thorn. Tommy Dreamer seemed to have Thorn down for the 3 count but special referee Matt Striker was too injured to make the count. Thorn countered putting Dreamer down and Striker “stuggled” with the 3 count to give Thorn the win.

Next up was Balls Mahoney fresh off his beat down on Raw to Umaga against Marcus Cor Von. “The Alpha Male” Cor Von easily got the win with Striker as the special timekeeper for the match. During the “Extreme Expose” Striker interupted to announce another New vs. Old match between RVD and Elijah Burker with Kevin Thorn as time keeper and Cor Von as commentator.

Needless to say some deceptive tactics were used and the originals found themselves on the short end of the stick as Burke pinned Van Dam. After the match the new breed went into the ring attacking RVD before the originals came to the ring to defend their member seemingly ending the show on a high note despite all of the losses.

In a non-feud related match Bobby Lashley faced off with Hardcore Holly in a non-title match. Lashley picked up the win with a powerslam. After the win Snitsky appeared to attack the Extreme champion seemingly throwing his name into the feud that has emerged between Lashley and Hardcore Holly.

No official matches were announced for tonight but I am not expecting to see a title defense simply because Lashley just defended last night and it is not being hyped but we will just have to wait and see.

Now he may very well announce his opponent tonight but the suspense may also be continued. WWE seems to have made a really good storyline and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it continue for another week or so. He can choose from Bobby Lashley from ECW, John Cena from Raw, or Batista from SmackDown with my vote going towards him choosing Batista.

Tonights Raw will also feature Ric Flair taking on Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy. With a win Flair will get a title shot at Wrestlemania. I just don’t see Flair fitting in with this storyline but we will just have to wait and see what storyline WWE is going with here. Tonight we should also see just what WWE is going to do with the Vince McMahon/Donald Trump storyline after reports are saying that it is no longer being considered for Wrestlemania.

Depending on who Undertaker ultimately chooses we could see another Wrestlemania match formed tonight, likely between John Cena and Shawn Michaels. It might not be finalized with an official announcement but I wouldn’t be surprised to see their recent feud continue tonight.

And last but least, Mickie James will be facing Melina defending her WWE Women’s Title.

Okay maybe it is just me and my ‘lack’ of wisdom but is CM Punk worthy of a DVD already. He has only been on ECW since its revival a few months ago and has never appeared on either of the other two shows. Does this seem a little rushed or am I just missing something?

I did a bit of research into Punk’s past to see what might have made him worthy of a DVD already. CM Punk is apparently very well known on the independent circuit especially while performing for the Ring of Honor promotion. He is considered one of their three ‘icons’ along with Samoa Joe and Homicide. He also wrestled in TNA.

After his stints in ROH and TNA he was assigned to WWE developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling as part of his WWE contract. And that leads us to where we are now with CM Punk wrestling in ECW. Here is the wikipedia page about his career.

Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of CM Punk and think he is going to be big in the near future and what will keep ECW going but do you think he is worthy of a DVD so early is here career?
