As environmental-friendly gamers, we are aware that the Earth is going to die (erm…just a matter of time). However, we can do our part for our future generations by saving power and reduce carbon emissions in the process.

One company called TrickleStar is aware of this saving or standby power issue to come up with the TV TrickleSaver which is to stop the flow of standby power when electrical appliances such as TV and your gaming console are in ’standby’ mode.

PS3 is the primary target for such usage while Microsoft Xbox 360 comes in as a close second. Device @ $34.95.

PS3 Slim for July?

Engadget, CNet and Kotaku are all abuzz right now over the rumored PS3 Slim that might, maybe, possibly be available in July. ps3_slim_casing

July, folks.

While I have strong love feelings for my PS3, Darwin is a bit of a brick and while I don’t see myself tossing him [or selling him] anytime soon, a slimmer version would be a nice thing to dream [and lust] about.

Here’s the original PS3 Slim link-have fun with the Google translation. It’s an interesting [and by that I mean confusing] read.

Darksiders:Wrath of War Trailer

“One horseman will restore balance.”

Yes. Yes, he will.

This game looks downright sick.

The basic premise is that you play “War”, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The world came to an end too soon [oops] and now you have to find out who’s behind it.

Darksiders: Wrath of War is set for an early 2010 release and will be available for PS3 and 360.

August 14th, y’all.

That’s when you can get your sweaty hands on the latest installment in the Madden franchise.

The game will be available for just about every console known to man: 360, PS2, PS3, Wii, and PSP. It’s also rated E for everyone so you no worries when your kids are beating on your shoulders asking you to stop playing the game. Not like that’s ever happened to you.

Right?

If you’re into Tekken then I know you can’t wait for Tekken 6 to hit stores this fall.

It’s being released for the PS3, PSP and 360 and looks like it will be a hell of a lot of fun.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Trailer

I’m super bummed that this isn’t coming to the PS3. That’s right. I was a HUGE fan of Kingdom Hearts when it first came out on the PS2 and I’ve been patiently waiting for it’s return to Sony but alas, it appears that isn’t going to happen.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is slotted to hit the DS in the US in late September of this year and since I really don’t have any plans of getting a DS, I suppose I’m stuck watching trailers.

It is a rather good trailer though.

WET

So this game was announced in ‘07 with a release date of sometime in ‘08. Obviously, it’s ‘09 now so things must have gotten a bit “sticky” for Bethesda.

No worries.

Wet, a third-person acrobatic shooter, tells the tale of Rubi Malone, “a gun for-hire”.

From the release:

WET is a highly-stylized third person shooter that seamlessly blends gun play, sword kills and over-the-top acrobatics to create the ultimate interactive action experience. The game allows you to shoot anywhere, anytime. You will have the freedom to shoot while running, sliding down ladders, sliding across the floor, or performing any number of acrobatic moves. Featuring an ironic mix of humor and violence, unique retro film visual treatment, and original 70’s inspired music, WET is a third- person shooter experience unlike any other.

Look for WET for the PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall [they promise].

E3 ‘09: Uncharted 2

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves picks up where the first game left off, only this time, the focus is on developing the main character by piling as many intense situations onto him as possible. This makes for an edge-of-your-seat roller coaster ride of a game, full of thrills and spills, and cinematic-quality storytelling.

If all of that was too much hyperbole, let me boil it down for you: I don’t own a PS3, but after seeing Uncharted 2 in action, I’ve never wanted to own one more.

Final Fantasy XIV So, So Pretty

Final Fantasy XIII [13] isn’t even out yet and here we have the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV [14] Online. The teaser site for this sweet looking MMORPG is now live and includes screenshots, the trailer and a place for you to register for the mailing list.

The game will be available on PC and PS3 with the possibility of Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox 360 not being ruled out. So much for PS3 exclusivity. Regardless, the screens look absolutely breathtaking and I figure that FFXIV will appeal to a broader audience than most MMORPGs.

Look for FFXIV in 2010.
