You know we’ve talked about Project Better Place before, and Shai Agassi’s plan to separate day-to-day transportation from oil. This guy is a winner. He’s smart, he’s capable. I’m excited by what he’s doing, and now he’s letting the rest of us take part (a little bit).

US Post Office Gives Hydrogen a Try
While the UPS leads the world in fuel efficiency among delivery companies, the United States Postal Service hasn’t shown much interest in greening up their fleet. Things may be changing. Starting tomorrow, the USPS begins testing a Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle provided by General Motors.
You might ask yourself, why? Why hydrogen? Why now? A $600 Million increase in fuel costs might be one reason. We can’t look past the fact that they are testing new vehicles out, either. It may be a sham to appease the public for now, but what they learn may make a real difference.

WooT! Unfortunately for those who still have to drive a bunch, a drop in demand does not equal a lower price when it comes to fuel. Demand has been down since May, when it was expected to rise with vacation season. The opposite has happened, and prices continue to go through the roof.

Toyota’s Human Rights Violations
The world’s leader in “green” transportation – Toyota Motor Corp – has been accused of serious human rights violations, including the trafficking of foreign workers from China, Vietnam and surrounding countries.
The 65-page report released by the National Labor Committee dishes out such allegations as taking passports of guest workers, forcing them to live in cramped, over-priced company-owned apartments, working them 16 hr days, 7 days a week for less than half the minimum wage and no overtime pay … and deporting people who complained.
