New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced last week that LA Weight Loss Centers Inc. reached a settlement to pay $275,000 in refunds to thousands of New York state customers who paid for but never received services after LA Weight Loss closed its doors in January 2008.

PA Attorney General Tom Corbett has really come through for the former Pure Weight Loss (formerly LA Weight Loss) members.  In a recent press release,  Corbett’s office announced it has reached a consent decree that requires the Horsham, PA based company to pay $500,000 to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, for distribution to consumers who pre-paid for products and services that were not delivered, and another $200,000 to provide restitution to consumers who filed claims against Pure Weight Loss in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Today’s post on Pure Weight Loss over at Dear Vahan says that a recent letter sent out from the the bankruptcy court was sent by mistake and is misleading.
The letter implied that there was a resolution to the bankruptcy case and basically, members owed thousands of dollars are out of luck.
However, a bankruptcy trustee said that wasn’t accurate.

Over at Pure Weight Loss / LA Weight Loss warning site Dear Vahan, one member alleges that LA Weight Loss Centers continue to sell prepaid member programs and products, then announce they are closing and offer a telephone-based program instead.  Says Juls:
