This is very cheesy. Tommy Silk brings you the Jingle Generator, from Intuit Quickbooks. Aimed as small businesses you use the tool for their books, you choose your business, add some details and a jingle is produced for you. You have a choice of text or voice entry – given the poorness of the text-to-voice, I’d use the phone options, then at least you could sing in tune!

I’ve got no idea who Tommy Silk is, but apparently he’s a legendary rock producer, who reminded me of Mike Read for UK readers out there. You can find out a lot more about him from MySpace, Facebook or the Twitter feed, all of which are associated with this campaign, as I somehow doubt whether Tommy himself uses these tools in the rest of his life.

What I think about it

Cheesy, very, very cheesy. But surprisingly fun. The jingles are silly, but you could probably get something out of it if you took time to phone in your bits of information. For Intuit, they’ve partnered with a ‘legend’ in a way that makes sense – as long as it is Tommy and his Silk Studios that did all the jingles. They’ve not just added the name but contributed positively to the campaign. It lightens up what could be a very boring area – accounts – and makes Intuit seem a brand that has more fun, although I’m not sure about all the ‘web2.0′ stuff, it depends how that gets used going forward.

No Press Release language here, it’s a fun, light pitch written in the style of the campaign, singing off with this:

Remember, according to Tommy, there are 3 R’s of a small business jingle: Rock, Roll and Revenue.
