Raja Bell Could Be Out for the Season

Raja Bell, the defensive and three-point shooting specialist for the Charlotte Bobcats, may be forced to miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury. Although he’s getting a second opinion, Bell’s first opinion told him that he needed wrist surgery that would keep him out most — if not all — of the 2009-10 NBA season.

The loss of Bell would be a big blow to the Bobcats. While his skills have diminished, the 33-year-old swingman is still an important cog to Charlotte’s squad. He’s arguably the team’s best defender and his perimeter shooting spreads the court.

Without Bell, the Bobcats may opt to go with a lot of Raymond Felton and D.J. Augustin in the backcourt at the same time. While both have spent a lot of time at point guard in their basketball careers, both Felton and Augustin can score well enough to play shooting guard.

Bell is currently looking for a way to avoid having the surgery. If he does, he may be out a matter of weeks rather than a matter of months.

Has The Sun Finally Set for Steve Nash?

Steve Nash’s time with the Phoenix Suns may be up. As one analyst puts it, the sun may be setting on Nash’s storied career in Phoenix. This doesn’t mean that Nash will be done playing basketball for good. Though he’s been in the league for 13 seasons, I fully believe he’s got two maybe three more seasons in him — back problems and all. The guy can still play, and he proved that this season, even as his team began to crumble around him.

Steve Nash may no longer be a Phoenix Sun after this season.

First, his new coach Terry Porter was fired. Then his best friend, Raja Bell, gets traded. THEN, Boris Diaw is let go. Every decision that Steve Kerr has made as a GM has apparently done more bad than good for the setting Suns, who failed to make the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons.

Yet, despite all of that, Steve Nash still wants to remain in Phoenix.
It kind of makes you wonder what Kerr will do next. Letting Nash go would be a mistake, in my opinion. But it’s not up to me. Unfortunately, it’s not really up to Nash either.

Shaq & Grant Hill Talking Retirement Plans

I know the Phoenix Suns are an older team, consider that Grant Hill, Raja Bell, Steve Nash and Shaq are all over thirty years old, but isn’t it a bit soon to be thinking about retirement plans?

According to Yahoo! Sports, soon after they retire, O’Neal and Hill are seriously considering buying the Orlando Magic. Both players are former Magic players and both players still reside in the Orlando area in the offseason. Now teammates, O’Neal and Hill have already talked about the possibility and have even already made their plans public to CEO an president Bob Vander Weide.

However, if the deal never materializes, no worries. The pair plans on purchasing an NBA team regardless.
