Week Four is Rough on Top Football Teams

Week Four in college football wasn’t pretty for the AP Top 25. The leaders – #1 Florida, #2 Texas, and #3 Alabama – held on strong, but that was about the only things that stayed the same between Week Three and Week Four. In fact, an astounding 15 teams moved at least three spots on the list, and pollsters reported that this was one of the hardest weeks to vote.
Here’s how the top 25 looks after Week Four. Their Week Three rankings are in parenthesis:

Rivals Names the 5 Worst NCAA-F Teams

I’ve never been a fan of pre-season rankings. It just seems unfair to judge teams before they’ve played a single game. After all, unless you have ALL returning starters, it is impossible to know where the holes will be and if a team can overcome those gaps.
Today, Rivals.com started their 2009 countdown, looking at all 120 teams. We won’t get to see number 1 (cough Florida cough) until mid-August, but today they announced numbers 116 – 120. In other words, the worst five teams in college football. Who’s on that list?

Should Alabama be getting more votes in the polls?

It’s no secret the Southeastern Conference is the toughest conference in college football for 2008. Just last week the SEC had four of the top five teams in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. However, after a crazy weekend of football, I’m wondering one thing. Why is Alabama not getting more love in the polls?
