Resident Evil 5 is turning into a shooter
Speaking of Resident Evil 5, a new trailer for the survival-horror game was recently released and it’s looking mighty fine. The new Resident Evil is looking more and more “deliberately-paced shooter” than “scary action adventure game.” Want proof? Watch the trailer after the jump.
GameAxis: Far Cry 2 is racism free
A lot of buzz has been generated over the racism “issue” in Resident Evil 5, the latest entry in the popular survival-horror series, because of its Africa setting. Interestingly, Far Cry 2 is an upcoming FPS that’s also set in Africa but it never seemed to have generated the same sort of talk.

You’ve witnessed the new Resident Evil 5 trailer, but you’ll always have questions regarding the survival horror shooter. The next best thing is to watch this Jun Takeuchi interview about RE5’s new character and gameplay. Just who is Jun Takeuchi? If the titles Onimusha or Lost Planet mean anything to you, then you’ve seen the guy’s work. Takeuchi is RE5’s producer.
Capcom sheds light on Resident Evil 5 release date
Remember the thrill you felt when you first heard about Resident Evil 5? At that time, GameCube owners were the only people enjoying Resident Evil 4, though the promise of a PlayStation 2 version was imminent. RE4 was critically acclaimed and with good reason; it was a reimagining of the franchise that had relied too long on annoying camera angles.
The announcement of RE5 intrigued gamers everywhere. RE4 was already a visual masterpiece of the then-current generation. What would the end-result be if Capcom were to place the same harrowing action in high-definition?
This question would be answered in March 2009.
Yahtzee doesn’t like Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles very much
Yes, the British-born Australian may not like a lot of games very much, but there seems to be a lot of hate for Umbrella Chronicles, the latest Resident Evil game from Capcom. Can’t say I blame him, since what is there to rail shooters, other than “pointing to something you want dead, and keep pressing the button”?
Maybe Capcom should instead focus their efforts on making Resident Evil 5 fantastic and timely, instead of making clunkers like Umbrella Chronicles. That 2009 release for RE5 is just a little too far off.
New Resident Evil 5 screenies shed some light
Capcom has again reinvented survival horror. Forget about Resident Evil 4—they’re coming up with something even bigger and scarier. The adult diapers industry must love them for it.
It’s Resident Evil 5 folks, and the new screenshots alone is enough to make you see the entire genre differently. Consider the old survival-horror conventions that we’re all used to: creepy haunted houses, moaning zombies, tank controls, and dark places, among others.

More Resident Evil 5 details revealed in Famitsu
As you may have heard, Resident Evil 5 is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The details about the survival horror game’s next chapter of were a bit sparse, at least until Famitsu gave us some more lip-smacking details.
But wait, let’s not get too eager, folks. According to Jun Takeuchi, the game’s producer, this installment might come out as late as 2009.
