In the comments of my last post about screen real estate comparisons between Firefox and the new IE7, Robert Aitchison wanted me to compare the two without all the 3rd party toolbars installed.
How about the copmparison without all the 3rd party toolbars loaded?, or alteas cut it down to one.
Also you’ll notice that Firefox has a menu bar while IE7 does not, I’ll admin I haven’t used IE7 but it seems like not having a menu bar would be extremely limiting.

So, I decided to do an additional little comparison without the toolbars. As you can see, IE7 still has a significant savings over Firefox. Internet Explorer 7 is actually 35% smaller than Firefox by comparison.

As noted in some of the other comments though, the biggest gap right now between the two is going to be the availability and diversity of extensions/add-ons. Some of those I’m really missing. The Firefox extensions that I’ve got installed and am using are:

IE Tab (Not needed)

CoLT (really miss this)

PDF Download

Print It (Not needed anymore)

CoComment

Performancing

DownThemAll

As you can see, he was also concerned about there not being a menu bar. I really haven’t missed it personally. How about you?

Let me know in the comments if you use and miss the menu bar and what add-ons are must haves for IE7.
