Sebastian Vettel finished eighth in last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, which is a definite blow to his chances of winning his first Formula One World Championship for Red Bull, but he isn’t ready to throw in the towel, just yet. Winning the 2009 Formula One World Championship is going to be a tough task to complete with only four races left in the year and him sitting 26 points behind Jenson Button in the standings. Despite Button’s lead and Rubens Barrichello’s recent renaissance, we are sure the only thing this talented racer has in his mind, is winning the 2009 Formula One World Championship, and he still has a chance to win his first Formula One World Championship.

Sebastian Vettel is ready to make his run for his first Formula One World Championship

Vettel looked like a confident Red Bull racer heading to Monza, but this isn’t his best circuit and it showed from the beginning of the race. His car lacked the pace to compete with the front runners from the drop of the flag and this was definitely the reason he only managed one point for Red Bull. Vettel and his team don’t have time to ponder this result and are getting ready to make a run for the win on the pavement of Singapore in the next race. He needs to win and score maximum points at Singapore to move a little closer to Button and his goal of a first Formula One World Championship.

Vettel’s engine and car are good enough to win with what we have seen so far this year and Renault and Mercedes have done a great job providing the team with a fast and competitive engine.

Red Bull is still working on their car at present, while teams like Ferrari and McLaren are already working on their race cars for 2010. Red Bull is going to update their car with a new front wing and a little body work for Singapore, but then Formula One teams are always making little changes to their cars.
Vettel and Red Bull will have to run perfect in the last few races of the 2009 Formula One season to have a chance to win the championship. Every day is just another day competing and driving the fastest cars in the world for Vettel, and for sure he’ll be ready to go for the gold.
One thing is for sure, the last four races of the 2009 Formula One season are going to be entertaining, and it will be interesting to watch and see who comes out on top.

Mark Webber won his first career Formula One Grand Prix Sunday as he drove brilliantly and kept his emotions under control no matter what was thrown at him on his way to the to his debut victory at the German Grand Prix on the Nurburgring circuit. This is the first time an Australian racer has won a Formula One Grand Prix competition since Alan Jones won in Las Vegas in 1981. Webber was brilliant in the victory and there was no doubt through out the day who was the best, so he deserved this maiden win and more are sure to follow.

Robert Kubica contemplates a less than successful German Grand Prix

After receiving a drive-through penalty for a brush off the start line, Red Bull’s Webber stayed behind Brawn’s Reubens Barrichello and shadowed him until he made a fuel stop on Lap 14 and then he was in the lead again. He lost the lead again on Lap 19, but by Lap 33 he was back in front of the pack after all the front runners made stops and after that he was just the fastest on the track.

The day also belonged to Sebastian Vettel who made it a really good day for Red Bull despite being totally eclipsed by his teammate by beating the other racers to the line to grab Red Bull’s third one-two victory of the season with a second place finish. Felipe Massa drove fast and skillfully all day for Ferrari and beat Nico Rosberg to the line to take third. Nico Rosberg actually had a superb day and showed flashes of brilliance and deserved a strong fourth place finish.

Brawn’s drivers Jenson Button and Reubens Barrichello started strong before falling back over a long race and finished fifth and sixth. Fernando Alonso ran the fastest lap in his Renault and hounded Button and Barrichello all the way to the line to take seventh. If there had been a few more laps he might have been in front of the Brawn drivers as he was looking fast near the end. The final point in the championship drivers race went to Kovalainen as he managed to hang on to grab a point for McLaren with a host of drivers on his heels that included Toyota’s Timo Glock and BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld.

Sebastian Vettel dominated the qualifying rounds for the British Grand Prix held earlier this week amid the beauty and majesty of the British countryside. Many thought that due the events seen in the qualifying rounds that the race results were already written for the British Grand Prix and as it turns out they were right.

Sebastian Vettel wins the British Grand Prix

What many industry proponents considered to be already written in stone became etched in the annals of Formula One history as Sebastian Vettel launched his Red Bull RB5 off the start line and into the front of the pack of the British Grand Prix and never look back. In a crushing display of driving excellence and technological dominance on fast tracks, Vettel showed just how much of a leap forward the Milton Keynes team has made on high-speed tracks. He was able to quickly pull away from a field that was lead by Rubens Barrichello, gaining a large-second on the field for each lap he completed, and was never really pushed from behind.

Vettel’s team mate Mark Webber had trouble getting through the pack at first, but once he was able to get in front after the first round of stops, he too was able to keep his car in front. He tried to catch up to Vettel after that, but was only able to get to within 15.1s of his team mate by the time the chequered flat fell.

Reubens Barrichello eventually finished third, 26 seconds behind Vettel, and just ahead of the reigning world champion, Jenson Button. Button was starting to make progress in the later part of the race, his tires finally reaching racing temperature, and by the end of the race he had only lost three points off of his 26 point lead in the running for the world championship.

Trulli had a pretty strong race and was able to finish seventh in his Toyota, while Raikkonen was able to stay ahead of his Italian team mate Timo Glock for eighth. Giancarlo Fisichella was able to get some fighting-points for Force India by taking tenth place, but they have along way to go to compete.

Jenson Button did it again! He’s now won six of seven races on the 2009 Formula One calendar as he used cunning, tactics, and amazing timing on Sunday afternoon to steal the lead in the Turkish Grand Prix from Sebastian Vettel after Vettel decided to drive wide through Turn 10, and then never looked back. Jenson managed to run second behind Vettel after a start by Rubens Barrichello that left Barrichello trailing Button. Staying close to Vettel he waited for his moment and when Vettel lost concentration for a moment in Turn 10 and went a little wide, Button jumped on his mistake and drove past Vettel to take the lead.

Jenson kept the hammer down through out most of the race and managed to build up a lead of 20 seconds to his closest competitor but eased off in the later part of the race to protect the win and eventually finishing 6.7 seconds ahead of Red Bull racer Mark Webber. The smile on his race as he crossed the finish line could probably light a bulb and who could blame him after beating his competition on an afternoon where he was barely threatened.

Vettel managed to work his way back up to third and was just behind Webber at the end of the race and eventually to finish just 0.7 seconds behind Webber. In the end his three stop strategy didn’t work and was an error that allowed Webber to use his two stop strategy to take second place. Certainly a disappointing race in some ways for Vettel but he still managed to reach and podium and can hold his head high.

Jarno Trulli and Nico Rosberg battled through most of the Turkish Grand Prix for fourth place but in the end Trulli managed to get in front of Rosberg and beat him across the line. Felipe Massa probably came into the race with expectations of achieving his fourth straight victory in Turkey but it quickly became clear these expectations were beyond his cars reach and he had to settle for sixth place.

The Santander British Grand Prix is the next race on the Formula One calendar and we can expect to witness amazing feats of driving skill at this venue. The action begins with practice runs on Friday the 19th of June, but all the times and days are listed below for you to make a note of the time.

Sebastian Vettel likes starting from the pole position. He has had his best results when doing so, winning from the pole position last year in Monza. On Sunday afternoon at the Shanghai Formula One circuit in China, he ran fast and straight from the pole position and he and his teammate, Mark Webber finished first and second to give team owner Dietrick Mateschitz, his first-two finish for Red Bull Racing.

Vettel uses less fuel and wins in Shanghai

The race started in wet and windy conditions that saw the Mercedez-Benz safety car lead the race for the first 8 laps, something that has been happening a lot this season as the safety car has done more laps than Heikki Kovalainen so far this season. The safety car pulled off the track after eight laps and the Red Bull cars pulled into the lead and stayed there until they were first to pit for fuel. This put series leader Jenson Button in the front of the pack after he passed his teammate Rubens Barrichello on lap 11, but Mclaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa were making a charge behind him.

Lewis Hamilton managed to work his way to fifth before spinning-out and dropping to 10th on lap 11, he worked his way back to 8th position before the safety car came back out onto the track on lap 18, after Robert Kubica slammed his BMW Sauber into the back of Jarno Trulli’s Toyota.

The race advantage switched back to Vettel after these events, especially after Button’s car rolled to a silent-stop on lap 21. The race started again on the 23rd lap, and with a lighter fuel load Vettel pulled away from his heavier competition and raced to the finish line to take the checkered flag.

Button tried to keep up, but after he missed his braking before Turn 14 on lap 29, he lost the time he needed to catch Vettel, and the Red Bull drivers kept their cars on the track and were running one-two. Button found himself only 1.2 seconds ahead of Vettel on lap 42, with one fuel stop left to make, while Vettel had already made his final fuel stop, and I am sure he could see the writing on the wall. This was the first Formula One race this season where Button didn’t look like the pace setter, running second to Adrian Newey’s RB5 design probably doesn’t sit too well with him, and expect him to show up at the next race with the goal of winning on his mind.

Getting this page back in the groove begins now. As NASCAR heads to Kansas this weekend, we will take a quick trip around some other sites to get some insight on what is going on right now.

Tony Stewart says “Sliced Bread” is a good replacement for him.

Jeff Foxworthy is coming out with a new animated show about a NASCAR family. We can only hope it doesn’t bomb like “The Jeff Foxworthy Show” did.

Bruce’s NASCAR Bits and Pieces wonders where A.J. Allmendinger will be ending up after being let go by Red Bull.

From the Marbles compares Jimmie Johnson to some other great sports dynasties of the past.

The NASCAR Insiders talk about what the Chase for the Cup has done to the sport. I have to agree with them. I was worried what the Chase would do to the sport, however, it seems it is working out just fine.

Fox 4 news station in Kansas City is covering this weekend’s race.

EA Sports revealed its Fall lineup for mobile games and it includes NASCAR 09.
