Windows Vista delay in Europe?
Microsoft has raised the possibility that it might delay the introduction of its new Vista Windows operating system in Europe. The reason for this would be the dependency on the European Commission’s antitrust requirements.
Microsoft said in a statement it made concrete proposals to the European Union’s executive Commission, responding to its concerns about new features in Vista. “Once we receive the Commission’s response, we will know whether the Commission is seeking additional product design changes that would result in delay in Europe,” it said (via news.com).
Vista: This sucker is just not ready!
Once again, the subject is: Vista delays! Last week we had Microsoft’s annual investors meeting, now we have ex-MS blogger Scoble who writes: This sucker is just not ready!
Too many things are too slow and/or don’t work. I’ve been on the betas of every Windows OS since Windows 3.1 and Vista is starting to feel good, but it doesn’t feel good enough to release to the factory in October. It feels like it needs a good six more months than that, which would mean a mid-year release next year.
Scoble also writes about the fact that no one will remember whether …read more
Windows Vista shipment details galore!
Nobody knows when Vista will ship, but MS said today that it sees no reason now why its new Windows Vista operating system would be delayed… Uhm… Ok. This was on Microsoft’s annual investors meeting, where Kevin Johnson, co-president of Microsoft’s platforms and services division, also spoke these historical words: “We will ship Windows Vista when it is available“. So now you know!
Microsoft has already postponed the release of its much-anticipated upgrade to Windows for consumers to improve the system’s quality. They are planning to ship Vista for corporate customers in November this year. The consumer release is planned for …read more
Vista delay galore
Bill said in an interview that there’s a 80 percent chance for Windows Vista to be ready for its scheduled release in January. That means there is a 20 percent chance for another Vista delay.
According to a Dow Jones Newswires report, Gates told Microsoft software partners in South Africa this week that the operating system could be delayed yet again if beta testers turn up problems (via news.com).
MS Employees angry about Vista delay
The Vista delay has dissapointed a lot of people, including Microsoft employees. Postings on a Microsoft blog by company staffers over the past week reveal dismay, anger, and even demands for high-level resignations. This all because of the company’s delays of Vista consumer releases and Office desktop productivity suite. The Mini-Microsoft blog includes a number of diatribes from anonymous Microsoft staffers blasting the delays.
In a post from last Tuesday entitled “Vista 2007. Fire the leadership now” a blogger wrote:
I was upset at missing the back-to-school market. Now we’re missing the holiday sales market. All of those laptops and PCs are …read more
Vista delayed, release in 2007?
OMG, it’s not gonna be October, not November and not December… It’s gonna be January 2007! Here’s the official pressrelease confirming that Windows Vista is on target to go into broad consumer beta in the second quarter of 2006. Business availability will be in November 2006 and broad consumer availability in January 2007.
Vista in october or november?
Everybody keeps guessing the Vista release-date (including me), last time I checked Microsoft would release Vista in the week of 2 October. A while back I wrote about a possible releasedate on December 1st and now it looks like its gonna be November… So we now have covered the last three months of 2006, anybody wanna put a bet on September?
Anyway, we still don’t know the exact day, but according to Chris Randall, Windows Vista will be released in November of this year (via arstechnica.com):
This is the year…the year that Microsoft releases the newest version of Windows. Yes, Vista will …read more
Vista release on December 1st?
Or it may also be November 30th… Thomas has taken a look at the page source of the Vista launchcontest. After you submit a date, it plays a “hint” video, there are a bunch of videos. And depending on your guess, they are being loaded either from a subdirectory /early/ or another one named /late/.
It seems that “early” ends Nov 30th while “late” starts Dec 1st. So he suggests that either one of these will be the launch date…
