Moving Your Time Machine Backups

In preparation for the coming of Snow Leopard, I decided to purchase a new external hard drive. My 500GB was full and I wanted to make sure I had both a Time Machine backup and a manual backup of my user folder before I do a clean install of Snow Leopard. Why Recovery Partitions on Hard Drives Aren’t Good Enough

It used to be that when you received a new computer you also received a handful of discs that could be used to completely restore the computer to the factory default state. Many times now you don’t receive discs, unless you want to pay extra for them. All the restoration files are put in a partition on your hard drive installed on the machine.
