Rafael Nadal Wins 2009 Australian Open

It took five sets, but Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in the men’s singles at the 2009 Australian Open. This was the longest match in the tournament’s history, taking 4 hours and 23 minutes. WOW! Nadal won with 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2.
This victory for Nadal keeps the Grand Slam record safe for now. Federer had a chance to tie Pete Sampras’s 14 Grand Slam title, but it just didn’t happen on Sunday.
