The beginning of a new week and we have some cool things going on this week in MMA. Wednesday night you have Ultimate Fight Night 18, followed by the premiere of The Ultimate Fighter Season 9: U.S. Vs. U.K.. n the meantime, here are some things that you may have missed

BJPenn.com sent out a newsletter sayiung that the Penn camp has received the fight agreement for UFC 101 to defend his Lightweight title again Kenny Florian.
Other rumored fight for UFC 101 is Forrest Griffin vs. Thiago Silva and Matt Hamill Vs. Brandon Vera.
Bobby Lashley has been signed to another fight, this time facing former Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Marcus Jones. That fight is set to take place at XFC 8: Regional Conflict on April 25th.
Roger Huerta was on HDNet’s Inside MMA. Concerning the last fight on his UFC contract he stated; “I’m just waiting on the call”. Huerta chose not to renew his contract with the UFC in order to pursue a career in modeling and acting.
MMAFighting.com recently posted an interview with TUF Season 7 contestant Jessie Taylor. They talked about fighting at 185, his loss to CB Dollaway and Junie Browning. Jessie fought this weekend at a King Of Champions event, winning the middleweight title from Chris Camozzi by unanimous decision. This is Taylor’s 4th straight win.

Roger Huerta Wants To Act…So What?

Since Roger Huerta made an announcement not so long ago that he did not re-sign with the UFC and wants to pursue opportunities in acting and possibly modeling, he’s come under fire from a lot of people in the MMA community.

Huerta stated that he was given an opportunity to act in the Tekken movie and was offered more opportunities by Lionsgate Films. He’s only 25 years old and he’s been offered other opportunities in life, so why not give it a shot? I’m an opportunist, myself, so I can relate. You have to weigh the options. Hmm? Should I do the same thing I’ve been doing for a long time, or should I try something new? Should I act like a fighters and not have to take a punch to the face or a kick to the leg, or should I take those punches and kicks and get paid about the same amount of money? I know what I would do.

No matter what you do in life, when an opportunity arises that you want to take advantage of and pursue or expand, then you need to dive in hear first. You never know what your potential is unless you try. Huerta’s trying something new and improving himself and his resume. Being a UFC fighter is a huge deal to many, but he wants dream bigger. Good for him.

Co-Main Event Fight At UFC 91 To Be A Lightweight No. 1 Contender Fight

UFC has announced the the welterweight co-main event fight between Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson at UFC 91 will be for the No. 1 contender fight foe BJ Penn’s lightweight championship.

The winner of the fight will be guaranteed a shot at Penn’s title after the Penn Vs. St Pierre welterweight championship fight at UFC 94.

Flooian goes in to this match with a victory over Roger Huerta at UFC 87 by unanimous decision. Before this fight happened Dana White said the winner of that bout would most likely get a title shot. However after Florian’s win B.J. Penn was scheduled for a fight for the welterweight title against GSP and Florian was scheduled to fight Stevenson who lost to Penn by submission early this year.
