Is this true? Rojo is going to emulate a Phoenix. A Phoenix is a bird from myth. Harry Potter fans would be familiar with this bird. It was believed that when a Phoenix would die it would end its life in a pyre of fire. And in that fire an egg would be found that would hatch into the Phoenix. And if the news is true Rojo and its owner is poised or has done a Phoenix.

And this is according to a post, Rojo RSS Reader Plans a “Life Change”, by Eric Griffith at AppScout this seems to be case.

The online RSS Reader will cease to be and will be reborn. But it will come back with a new name, a new look and a new set of goals and objectives.

Rojo described itself as “the best free RSS and Atom feed reader,” is owned by Six Apart - ex owners of Live Journal and developers/makers of Movable Type and Type Pad.

What new form Rojo will take after going to the fire? Let us wait and see.

CNet has reviewed some of the most populair RSS readers: Bloglines, Rojo, Google Reader, FeedDemon and Newsgator Inbox 2.6 for Outlook. Like Steve writes, the most useful part of the review is a matrix that compares each on their blogging, mobile and language capabilities. Overall winner is Newsgator’s FeedDemon, Bloglines ends second.

Om Malik reports that blogging company Six Apart will soon announce it has purchased Rojo! It seems Six Apart won’t be adding an aggregator based on Rojo, but instead incorporating some elements of the technology into its existing products. The Rojo.com site (the online feed reader) and Rojo’s weekly feed roundup newsletter could become a separate company, that will look for outside investors. Or atleast that seems to be the plan for now. “The service is going to stay up, and we are going to use the code in some our other products,” says CEO Berkowitz, who seemed pretty pleased with his latest acquisition.

myFeedz (”The social newspaper”) is a new Web 2.0 application that keeps an eye on topics you are interested in and also suggests fresh content based on your reading habits. It is still in private Beta (what’s not nowadays?) and should show the news based on topics you identify, your reading list or even an OPML file. A public release is expected soon and sounds a lot like Findory, Rojo and Tailrank (via micropersuasion.com).

TechCrunch (uhh, i mean Frank Gruber) examined nine web-based feed readers (Attensa Online, Bloglines, FeedLounge, Google Reader, Gritwire, News Alloy, NewsGator Online, Pluck Web Edition, Rojo).

Not much of a shock here, Google Reader and FeedLounge are the fastest in performace. Bloglines and Rojo are the best choice for a feature rich application. Except none seem to approach the speed and agility of the desktop based readers like NetNewsWire and FeedDemon (surprise;).
