Miles Austin to See More Action

Miles Austin is a secret weapon no more. In Week 5 of the 2009 NFL season, Austin had a monstrous outing. The 6-foot-3, 214-pound wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys had ten catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving yards broke a franchise record and his performance apparently earned him more action going forward.
Said Wade Phillips, head coach of the Cowboys: “We’re going to get him on the field. His run after the catch is so strong that if you get him the football, he’s liable to make a big play.”
Austin started Week 5 due to Roy Williams …read more

Cowboys Without Williams & Jones in Week 5

When healthy, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of offensive weapons. In Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cowboys will be without two of their weapons — wide receiver Roy Williams and running back Felix Jones.
Williams is sidelined due to rib cartilage damage. In total, three of his ribs are hurt. So far this season, Williams has 214 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Missing his second straight week, Jones is battling a knee injury. When healthy, he has been very good — averaging 10.1 yards per rush on 21 carries. However, the second year pro has only been able …read more

Roy Williams Gets Hurt Again

Roy Williams, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver who is attempting to replace the departed Terrell Owens, hurt his left shoulder in a practice session on Thursday. While X-rays were reported negative, Williams is expected to miss the rest of preseason action.
Williams was injured in a collision with Orlando Scandrick, a cornerback. Earlier in training camp, Scandrick was the covering cornerback when Williams landed hard and injured his wrist. On another occasion this training camp, Scandrick hit Williams so hard that the wide receiver’s helmet came flying out.
This is obviously another setback for Williams, who hasn’t looked overly sharp so far. …read more

Rumors: Cowboys Considering Marvin Harrison

A recent rumor had Marvin Harrison likely headed to the Minnesota Vikings to potentially team up with Brett Favre. The latest Marvin Harrison rumor has him headed to the Dallas Cowboys as Big D bolsters its wide receiving corps to compensate for the loss of Terrell Owens.
While this rumor sounds like a longshot, Jerry Jones is known to make surprise moves. Signing the future Hall of Fame wide receiver would definitely be a surprise.
Harrison is coming off of a season in which he didn’t perform up to his normal standards. He finished the campaign with 60 receptions with 636 receiving …read more

Roy Williams Signs with the Bengals

Roy Williams, formerly the safety for the Dallas Cowboys, has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Although the specifics of the contract are unknown at this time, sources close to the Bengals indicate that it is a deal that will allow Williams to hit the free agent market again within a few seasons.
Once a highly touted safety, Williams has heard more and more criticism in recent years. He’s a hard hitter but he struggles to defend against the pass. With the safety position in the NFL becoming more of a coverage position in recent years, Williams hasn’t been nearly as …read more

Roy Williams Is Hilarious When Irritated

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski got all passive-aggressive about the fact that North Carolina has a lot of injured players and that people know that North Carolina has a lot of injured players. So, naturally, when talking about his own injured player, Coach K said his team didn’t discuss injuries “unlike other schools.” This apparent slight towards the Tar Heels made UNC coach Roy Williams hopping mad. Hopping mad like Yosemite Sam.
“It’s not like I’m getting a dadgum plane and flying it around to say, ‘Roy fell against a wall and banged his nose’ or anything,” Williams said in a news …read more
