I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions. I figure if something is worth doing and important, the motivation for doing it and committing to the decision should be based on something more than it being the beginning of a new year.
I spent quite a bit of time in 2009 sitting at my computer working on a variety of projects. I really enjoying working on the computer and doing what I do, but I am hoping in 2010 that I can focus on balancing things a little more in my life.
I realize that I need to spend more time …read more

When you workout, you want to challenge yourself, but you don’t want to be in pain. You’ve heard the saying, “No pain, no gain.” It’s not really true. More like “No work, no gain.” The last couple of days, I’ve had two nagging pains. First, the arch in my right foot hurts and second, my knees haven’t been just there. I’ve become conscious of them.
When you workout, you should be free of any pain so you can concentrate on form and building muscle. My two problem areas have been giving me trouble in …read more

Bare foot Running: Any Experts Out There?

I know our greatest ancestors probably even wore some kind of crude footwear as they were running to or from where and whatever. I don’t care who you are, feet bottoms are sensitive. Running in bare feet on a beach is one thing, but running on just about any other surface doesn’t seem very comfortable to me. Whenever I have run barefoot on a hard surface there is always that slapping sound and a rather rough landing, perhaps it’s because we’re so used to shoes or I’m just not doing it right.
I keep seeing these running shoes made to mimic …read more
Which Way to the Gym?
I like to run and workout to stay in reasonably good shape. One thing I have never done though is run a marathon. It takes too much time to train for and the amount of punishment your body ends up taking is insane.
In games though, your characters are the most insanely fit people on whatever planet you happen to be on. They can run up and down mountains, swim oceans, and climb to the heavens.
Master Chief is a good example. That guy never stops. If he were an E9 in the Navy I was in, he would be drinking coffee and …read more
