Leonhardt wasn’t a total newbie to the goalie position. He played third division hockey and was his team’s goalie. At 6-foot-7, if Leonhardt ever plays in an NHL game, he’ll be the tallest goalie in the history of the league.

I’m not quite 6-foot-7 but give me some pads and I’ll do my best to get in the way of the puck.

Brett Leonhardt Living a Nerd’s Dream

While this was a glaring mistake, I’m sure nobody is going to heckle Kimbo Slice too much about it. If you’ve ever seen him fight, whether on YouTube or in a professional match, you know this is one guy not to mess with. If he walks up to your face and tells you that you were born in the city of Japan, the best move would just be to nod your head and run away. As fast as possible.

This guy cannot catch a break! O.J. Simpson was pulled over early Monday morning by the Nevada Highway Patrol after the unit received a call from someone at a gas station stating that Simpson appeared to be drunk.

Simpson, who was on his way to Las Vegas for his trial, was pulled over, but the NHP said he did not appear to be under the influence.

Let’s just hope Simpson can stay out of trouble for the rest of his trial, one that quite possibly could land him some jail time.

This seems fitting. Especially for a Cincinnati Bengal. Chad Johnson is definitely his own man. He loved the name Ocho Cinco so much that he decided to change his name to just that. To celebrate his jersey number. But Ocho Cinco stands for 8-5, not 85. 85 would be ochenta y cinco. Now ochenta y cinco must not roll of the tongue for Chad like ocho cinco does. We are sure he knew that there was a difference. But then again, he is a Bengal.

It’s Official, Chad Johnson Is Now Chad 8-5

Newly acquired Detroit Lions running back Rudi Johnson isn’t a hit with everyone in the 313 area code. In fact, one guy that could possibly have something against him is recently released running back Tatum Bell. According to reports, Bell was caught on security cameras picking up Johnson’s luggage and walking away with it. The luggage was returned, however Johnson claims he is missing his I.D., credit cards and about $200 in cash. Bell response, “I ain’t no thief.”

Bell claimed that he was asked to pick up the bags for a former teammate. So – if that’s the truth, where’s the money at? And Johnson’s undergarments that were not returned with the luggage.

According to Detroit Free Press writer Nicholas J. Cotsonika’s blog, there are two versions of what happened. Here they are:

First, Johnson’s:

Johnson left his bags in the locker room Monday while he visited president Matt Millen’s office. They were Gucci bags he had gotten at the Pro Bowl.

“It was top of the top,” Johnson said.

When he came back in the evening, they were gone. The first thought was that the cleaning staff had tput them away. He still didn’t know where they were when he spoke to the media Tuesday afternoon.

But later Tuesday afternoon, Lions director of security Ricky Sandoval showed Johnson a surveillance video of Bell taking the bags. How did Bell look?

“Suspect,” Johnson said.

Was he wearing a ski mask?

“He might as well,” Johnson said.

The bags were at a woman’s house, and the woman brought them to Lions headquarters – empty. Johnson said he canceled his credit cards.

Johnson joked about it:

“I got the bags back empty,” he said. “So he got a bunch of my underclothes. What he’s going to do with that, I don’t know. …

“He left the money clip, but he didn’t leave no money in it. He should have took the clip, too. …

“If anybody’s got some Perry Ellis boxers for sale, you know where they came from.”

Johnson spoke to Bell afterward. Bell told him it was a mix-up.

“I wasn’t even trying to hear all that,” Johnson said. “I didn’t believe nothing he said.”

Earlier, Johnson had spoken to Bell about Detroit – the city, the practice schedule, what to expect.

“That’s what makes it that much more bizarre,” Johnson said. “You do dirt, stuff will catch up to you, come around to you. It’s a situation I ain’t even really worrying about. But it is what it is. He did it behind my back. I’m sure he wouldn’t do it if I was here.”

Johnson called the incident an “all-time classic” but said he would not press charges.

Now, Bell’s version:

Knowing he was going to be released, Bell went to clean out his locker. Former teammate Victor DeGrate, a fellow Oklahoma State product who had been cut Saturday, asked him to grab his backpack. He grabbed two bags by the computer area, thinking they were DeGrate’s.

“I didn’t have a clue,” Bell said. “I wasn’t thinking or nothing at the time. I just grabbed the backpack and grabbed the other bag. It wasn’t in nobody’s locker or nothing like that. It was just sitting right there by the computers. … So I grabbed them and put them in the car.”

Bell said he took the bags to a friend of DeGrate’s, as DeGrate had asked him, too. Messages have been left for the woman and DeGrate.

Later, the Lions contacted Bell and told him they had the surveillance video of him taking Johnson’s bags.

“I said, ‘If you look on film, I wasn’t in no hurry or nothing. I was just going about my day,’ ” Bell said. “I tried to talk to Rudi yesterday, but he was pretty upset, so I let it go. So now it’s that I’m being a thief. I come to found out that the bags weren’t whose I thought they was. It was just an honest mistake, man.”

Bell said he had nothing of Johnson’s and tried to convince Johnson and the Lions of that.

“I didn’t go in the bags,” Bell said. “I didn’t open up no bags. I don’t have his stuff.

“I asked him. I said, ‘What do I need to do to clear my name?’ I asked the organization, ‘What do I need to do to clear my name? What do I need to do to reimburse Rudi? What can I do to help?’

“But ain’t nobody saying nothing to me. They’re just stuck on the fact that I’m a thief. I’m like, ‘You all know me better than that.’ I ain’t never been in no trouble. You know what I’m saying? I ain’t never, ever, ever been in no situation like this. I’m just trying to clear my name.”

Which version do you believe? Oh, and by the way Rudi, welcome to the ‘D.’

Tatum Bell caught on camera stealing Rudi Johnson’s luggage

Scholes attempt was poor, however, as the ball was almost two feet over his head and even the commentators could clearly tell on the play that he had reached up and hit the ball with his hand. Check out the video of Scholes’ handball after the jump.

Even though Man U lost in Super Cup action, Scholes is suspended for the first Champions League match on September 17 against Villarreal.

The so-called “Hand of God” was made famous by Maradona during Argentina’s victory in the quarterfinal round of the 1986 World Cup. Here is the video of Maradona’s handball, which was not as blatant of an attempt as Scholes’ and is still debated around the world today:

Scholes and the “Hand of God” – Video

Are the Minnesota Vikings considering a relocation to Los Angeles? Well, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, members of the Vikings organization have turned down meetings with a ‘billionaire developer’ who is interested in a NFL team for Los Angeles.

This billionaire, Ed Roski, Jr., is planning to build an $800 million stadium in the City of Industry, Calif. with hopes of attracting a NFL franchise. Minnesota isn’t the only team that Roski has proposed this idea to, but the Vikings are declining his offer.

If the Vikes were to move to L.A., it was seriously sever the lifeline of the NFC North (a.k.a Black and Blue Division). Games against the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions just wouldn’t be the same if they were played in L.A.

At least Minnesota is holding off this charge and keeping the legs of Adrian Peterson in the mighty Metrodome.

Vikings considering move to L.A.?

Apparently, if you are the daughter of a NFL head football coach, that is grounds to be removed from a fantasy football league. That’s just what happened to Mike Holmgren’s daughter, Calla.

Holmgren, who is the head coach for the Seattle Seahawks, admitted that he didn’t know much about fantasy football. But, according to the story, his daughter does.

It’s hard to believe that someone would have that much “inside information” as the story is claiming to be kicked out of a league. I would boot an odds maker, bookie or player before I would boot someone that is a daughter of a head football coach in the league.

But, Holmgren’s daughter won’t be winning her league this year. That is, unless she decides to go onto Yahoo or ESPN.com or FoxSports.com and play where no one knows her real identity. Plus – who would believe her if she told them anyway?

Mike Holmgren’s daughter booted from fantasy football league

The story of the 2008 Olympic games has been American swimmer Michael Phelps. The 23-year old Baltimore, Maryland native was the third swimmer for the U.S. in the 4×100m medley relay. Phelps helped the Americans to a gold medal in the event, and in the process became the only athlete ever to win eight gold medals at any Olympics.

After the event, Bob Costas gave us this golden nugget before NBC went to commercial:

“As we told you at the beginning of the Games, eight is a lucky number in China. Well, they started the Olympics at eight o’clock on 8/8/08 and the biggest individual headliner of these games has gone eight-for-eight.”

Wow… dynamite drop-in, Bob. Did you come up with that one all on your own? Costas’ “golden” quote came just after NBC showed video footage of the Baltimore Ravens’ stadium where fans were watching the event on the big screen.

It’s an amazing feat for Phelps. I wonder how many medals he will win in 2012?
