That seems weird that I just got prompted with this after blogging about wondering where it went in my previous post. Is My Computer reading my posts via Windows Live Writer and pinging the Microsoft Mother Ship? [Insert eerie background music]

Now I regularly ping the update servers and request and approve just about any update that comes down. Did this just get updated since my last post? Do you get different updates made available to you if you go directly to the site and don’t rely on your installed Windows Update mechanism?

Download is almost done. Wish me luck with the upgrade/install.

UPDATE: MAN! This is taking forever!

What Happened to Windows XP SP3

]]> What ever happened to Windows XP SP3? I was thinking it was going to be available already. I just did a search for it to see about updating my system and the download link wasn’t available on the Microsoft Download Center page. The only thing that’s available is the overview documents.

Paul Thurrott has given a nice FAQ review of what to expect (not much) with the release, but I figured I’d just update anyway.

He says that the RC2 preview release is still available if you want to download it. However, then I’m wondering if I would need to uninstall the preview release before updating to the final version.
