Contest Winners and Goodbye

Last week I ran a contest offering 30 day access to a resume service from Pongo Resume. Yesterday was the deadline, and 5 random winners have been selected from those who left comments. Here are the five winners:

No more Yielding Wealth

I also have kind of sad news. b5 has decided to discontinue Bizzia. All of our blog content is being transferred to a “business/finance” category at another b5 site, EveryJoe. So there will be no more Yielding Wealth, as of the end of today. :(

This is a bit of a bummer for me, since I really have worked hard on this. But at least the content will remain. I just won’t be doing this blog anymore. I am pleased that b5 has asked me to stay on and contribute to the business/finance category over at EveryJoe, and I will start doing so at the beginning of November, I think. So that should be exciting.

I’m still around, contributing at Personal Dividends and Moolanomy, as well as writing the Personal Finance Corner at AllBusiness.com.

Hope to continue seeing you around in the blogosphere.

Carnival of Personal Finance is Up

It’s been a rather exciting morning. Gold and oil prices are surging, and the U.S. dollar is being rocked. Having a U.N. panel criticize how prevalent the U.S. dollar is in global trading, and how vulnerable that makes the world economy, hasn’t been helping. Talk about a new reserve currency is bound to start up again.

And, of course, the other exciting news that after a summer hiatus, I’m back to submitting entries for the Carnival of Personal Finance. This week it’s being hosted over at Financial Highway. Saturday Staples: Back to School

The PF Bloggers Weight Loss Challenge!

I’m having a hard time right now losing the last 15 pounds to by goal. To be honest, I’ve lost this 15 pounds before. But I’ve always gained it back. But I’m dogged in my determination to lose this last 15 pounds. I just need a little extra help, it seems. Lucky for me, Baker at Man Vs. Debt is providing just the thing: The PF Bloggers Weight Loss Challenge.

30 personal finance bloggers signed up, and we were divided into teams. Just so you know, I am on team Beta. Our Twitter hashtag is #BWLCBETA. Since I like to win, and I dislike letting people on my team down, this is just the thing to help me get into shape. It’s all about accountability (it works in personal finances as well). My fellow Beta team members are:

SNS at Penny Pence

Mrs. Micah, though she isn’t on my team, made a great point about strength training. I don’t want just losing weight to be my only focus; I also want to increase my bone density and strengthen my body in general. It isn’t just about getting skinny — it’s about being healthier.

Besides, having good health can also lead to increased wealth. Money Energy points out that studies have been done linking good health and weight loss to increased financial stability. M.E. points out that there are confidence factors involved, as well as energy and motivation that can come when you boost your energy level through weight loss, exercise and health living. I would also like to add that when you are healthier, you have a better chance of spending loss on health care. Unhealthy lifestyles are expensive.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this challenge — and to getting back into shape.

The Carnival of Pecuniary Delights

I’ve been a little lax with my carnival participation lately, but I did take part in the last Carnival of Pecuniary Delights, held at Almost Frugal.
