Silver for Canada in Women’s Short Track Relay

Team Canada won Silver in the finals of the women’s short-track 3000 metres relay.
The team composed of Alanna Kraus, Amanda Overland, Kalyna Roberge, Tania Vincent and Anouk Leblanc-Boucher took advantage of an error by the Chinese a few laps from the finish line to take seconds behind the Korean powerhouse.
The Italians never really were in the game and finished 4th.
The race was postponed twice, once for a foul start, the second time because the chinese skater fell in the first turn.
Update: The Chinese team was disqualified for having made contact with the Koreans, thus bumping the Italians to 3rd place …read more

Canadian short-track speed skating officials have filed an official complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concerning the finish of Wednesday’s 500-metre women’s final.
If Canada wins the appeal it could result in a new medal (bronze) and an upgraded medal (to silver).

Canada protests over short-track results

The Canadian short-track speed skating team has filed an official complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concerning the finish of Wednesday’s 500-metre women’s final.
Silver medallist Evgenia Radanova of Bulgaria crossed the finish line with her front skate tilted in the air. This is against the rules. The video replay clearly shows the faulty Bulgarian.
Should Canada get its way, the stripped bronze medal would be awarded to current 4th place Kalyna Roberge (CAN) and Anouk Leblanc-Boucher’s (CAN) bronze would become a silver.
Stay tuned.
