Glace claims to be the world’s first "luxury ice" but even after trying it, I can’t figure out what makes it luxurious.

Glace is a perfectly spherical, 2.5" …ball of ice. It’s made from purified water, which is somehow different from other ice cubes. I’ve read the product section of the website over and over again, and I still don’t get it.

I tried one of these "meticulously designed and differentiated drink-ice product" and was completely underwhelmed. Sure, I had ice in my drink. Yes, I managed to get it to "spider" the way that they say you can do if you don’t "age" the ice for four minutes so a frost would form and create the perfectly clear ice. (’Spidering’ occurs when you pour your liquid directly onto the ice, making it crackle.)

I still don’t get it.

What I did get however was more water in my drink when the ice had melted than I wanted. I think the only way that I would use these "spheres" is with a pure spirit. My Gentleman Jack on the Rocks for example. I suspect that the ice would melt slowly enough that you wouldn’t end up with an over-watered drink. I hope.

Apparently each sphere is hand carved in Canada and costs $3 to make.

Is this worth purchasing and then having to deal with the dry ice that it gets shipped in? Maybe – if you’re having a party and you want your friends to go "oooh" when you hand them a drink on the rocks. Otherwise, would I bother to keep this in the freezer? Nah. I can get by with regular plain old ice cubes.

If you’re really interested in getting ‘yuppie’ ice for your drinks, Glace (pronounced gloss) will run you $10 bucks a pop, and you’ve gotta get 4 or 8 per bag. Or, you know, you could just freeze some water from your kitchen.

But, speaking as a Canadian who just went through a rather random and kinda useless federal election, I think that this is a candidate you all should consider. Seriously. Mr. Morgan has got his priorities in order.

He’s got all of the major issues addressed:

THE ECONOMY: The Captain feels nothing keeps the party going like a well rested workforce, so he’s calling for five day weekends and two day work weeks.

ENVIRONMENT: While the Captain is all for Green issues, he’d like to ensure the party stays hot, hot, hot and add a little spice to clubs across America.

TRANSPORTATION: The Captain wants to keep citizens safe by asking his fellow Americans to be sure to think ahead and get a safe ride home.

So, while you’re deciding who to vote for, consider about Mr. Morgan. Here’s his campaign video:

This has been floating about the interwebs for a while now, but it’s just too amusing to keep to myself. Google Labs has launched Mail Goggles.

We all send messages we shouldn’t send. We’ve all emailed an ex or told someone we liked them more than just a friend…. Gmail can’t always prevent you from sending messages you might later regret, but they CAN help you a little bit.

When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you’re really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the right state of mind?
By default, Mail Goggles is only active late night on the weekend as that is the time you’re most likely to need it. Once enabled, you can adjust when it’s active in the General settings.

Hopefully Mail Goggles will prevent many of you out there from sending messages you wish you hadn’t. Like that late night memo — I mean mission statement — to the entire firm.

So, what are these ‘cures’? They mostly centre around the Hot Toddy. There’s tons of different ways you can make a Hot Toddy, from everything to Whiskey, Rum or Gin. The prevailing theory is that a hot toddy’s mixture of piping hot water, rum, and lemon can provide a lot of relief. Alcohol has an anti-inflammatory effect on mucous membranes and can help reduce fever. (image source: CartoonStock)

Well, ok, sure. I’ve also heard that whiskey will take away a cough (though I’m unsure as to how this works, but go with it), and that shots of tequila taken in a hot bath will speed your recovery from a cold.

Whatever you believe, whether these will really work or not, you stand the chance to at least forget you have a cold for a little bit.

Gin, honey and lemon
2oz of Gin
2 tbsp of honey
Juice of one lemon

Pour it all in a mug and top it off with boiling water, breathe vapors deeply while drinking, sleep.

Cure All Toddy
1-2 oz Scotch whiskey
1-2 tsp lemon juice
dash of cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
2-5 whole cloves
honey to taste (optional)
Hot water

Put the lemon juice, cloves and whiskey in a glass or mug. Fill the glass with hot water. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey, if used. Stir. Sip slowly, and inhale the vapors if you have head or chest congestion. Substitute rum for the whiskey if you prefer.

The drink is described as: "The perfect ’starter drink’ for your night or a special pleasure as a reward at the end of the day." Paris has launched a new "bubbly blonde" drink – which comes in original, passion fruit and strawberry.
Of course she has. She already has her own perfume, jewellery range, shoe collection, bag line and has released a pop album and starred in a bunch of movies.
Bleh. Of all the drinks in the world, I’m gonna go with “no” on this one. Thanks though.
