Tomorrow, the summer solstice will occur at 23:59 UT. It is the first time since 1975 that it hasn’t occurred on June 21. To celebrate, b5media is hosting “The Great Blog Off” on June 20.
A number of bloggers around the network will be posting hourly in order to raise money for charity. I’m not able to participate, but many of the blogs here at the business channel will be. Please stop by and leave your comments as a support and, if you are so inclined, consider making a donation to our charity – Accion.

But what about the rest of you?

That’s why I’m introducing the “Go Green with your Small Business” series.

Dear Readers,

Welcome to an all-new Greener Assets! The blogger formerly running this website, Ali, has moved on to other projects, so I’ll now be bring your your daily green news and tips. To make things easy on you – my name is Allison (Alli) as well!

I hope that if you were a regular reader of Ali’s, you’ll stick around (and consider subscribing to our RSS feed or via email – links are on the sidebar). There will, however, be a few changes to this blog in the coming weeks. I’m really excited about these changes, and I think you will be too!

A more streamline categories section so you’ll be able to find the information you need faster and more easily

More tips, less news – of course, I will still be covering green business news, but the focus will turn more toward how you, as a business owner (or employee) can live a greener lifestyle at work

Environmental information about the products you use every day

More posts! If you’re like me, you want lots of information, tips, and secrets to taking your business to a new environmentally-friendly level, so my goal is to give you 50+ posts every single month

Chances to go green with some amazing prizes – I love contests!

A little about me: I’m a 23-year-old business owner from Pennsylvania. Currently, I work as a freelance writer while running my own content creation company, ABContent. I have about 10 telecommute contractors working under me, and we work with hundreds of clients every year! We’re not perfect, but I do try to make ABContent as green as possible.

Being green is important to me because of where I live – in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. I grew up in Amish Country, so I learned at a young age about respecting our resources. When I have kids, I want them to be able to enjoy the same beautiful outdoors that was such a part of my childhood.

Why is going green important to you?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with all the great bloggers here and having a great bunch of readers. I hope you’ve all had as much fun as I have.
But just because I’m moving on doesn’t mean the green biz blog stops! Stay tuned with the new Greener Assets blogger who is going to take this blog to the next level.
It’s been a pleasure, thanks everybody! Cheers, Ali

This is pretty much totally off topic but it could fall under the follow your instincts, beat your own drum, don’t just keep doing what you’re doing because everybody else is, and let’s just say that, in the spirit of diversion, can apply to following your green business dreams.

There are a few blogs I read that have little to do with the environment and two of my favorites were recently honored at SXSW – which many a b5er attended BTW. Not that I needed any validation to justify these internet sidetracks from my work day but apparently there are a lot of people checking out these two great blogs and diggin’ them as well so you might like to check them out.

There’s Dooce, the website of a recovering Mormon, SAHM with great style and wit, took home four Bloggies including Best American weblog, Best-designed weblog, Weblog of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. Damn, girl. And she looks fabulous in the article over at Wired. But the best part (and most related to the follow your dream theme here) is the back story she posted on making lemons into lemonade.

Then there’s Confessions of a Pioneer Woman who is “plowing through life in the country one calf nut at a time” with great stories and amazing photographs of life in big sky country. She took home Best Writing of a weblog with posts like the ongoing true love story Black Heels to Tractor Wheels and, well, honestly everything she writes over there is worth reading. The Pioneer Woman Cooks, not for vegetarians but this weblog took home Best food weblog. Just one glance and you’ll start salivating. My next mission is to make this salad from TPWC.

So that’s the off topic Bloggy news, big congrats to all the Bloggies winners!
