LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (3 January 2007) — Keslie Tomlinson (Potomac Falls, Va.) and Caleb Smith (Lake Placid, N.Y.) won their respective U.S. National Championship titles today at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid, N.Y.
“This was a fun race for me, and I’m feeling really good about today’s result,” Tomlinson said. “I’m learning more each day I go down the track here, and the conditions were amazing thanks to the track crew.”

The hope’s of a nation were raised after Rhona Cameron and the women curlers brought home Gold from Salt Lake city in 2002, that 4 years later in Turin the British medal haul would thrive, but it appears not to be, Shelley Rudman got us a silver in the Skeleton Bob, but her boyfriend Dr Ice could not provide the same result in the Men’s version of the event, our ice dancers and bobsleigher’s ( not sure thats the correct term) have failed and to top it all the women curlers are already out. Shelley Rudman picked up Great Britain’s first medal at the 2006 Turin games, she managed to grab Silver in the suicide skeleton bob, surpassing Alex Coomber’s Bronze in the same event in Salt Lake City 4 years ago, what is even more impresive is that Rudman had not recieved enough funding to go to the games, but thank’s to the regulars in her local pub setting up the Shelley Rudman Supporters Group she was then able to earn enough to go, and by winning Silver she may now be entitled to up to £23,000 worth of funding, her boyfriend Kristan …read more

Zach Lund had high hopes of walking into the Olympic opening ceremony with his teammates, spending another week in the athletes’ village and then bringing a medal home to his family.
Lund, the top slider on the U.S. skeleton team, was banned from the Torino Olympics on Friday for taking a common hair-restoration pill with an ingredient that can be used to mask steroids.

NBC is reporting that the top U.S. slider (skeleton) has been disqualified from the Olympics, after testing positive for steroids.
The steroid? He was taking chemicals to help him grow his hair back…
The Court of Arbitration for Sport decided Friday that the American team’s top slider should serve a one-year suspension because he ingested a common hair-restoration product that can also be used to mask steroids.
The ban goes into effect immediately, and Lund will sit out the Winter Games, though Lund insists he tested positive because he was taking an baldness-fighting drug.
