TaxACT is a free online tax preparation program.  You can use the free version to prepare your 1040 and also the Schedule C for your sole proprietorship or single-member limited liability company.  TaxACT also has inexpensive business tax preparation programs.  You can use TaxACT free and online and it’s available immediately. Their FAQ page may help you find answers to your questions.

UncleFed’s Tax Board.  This site has lots of information on personal tax return preparation, including forms and instructions.  It isn’t as great on business taxes, but I did find the corporate tax form 1120 and the instructions.

My U.S. Business Law & Taxes site for About.com has lots of information for your business taxes, including answers to questions about business tax deductions and credits and common business tax forms.

And don’t forget the Internal Revenue Service has some great resources for small businesses and self-employed individuals.  Their Small Business resource center includes an A to Z index with the most common subjects business people need help with. And check out this Virtual Small Business Tax Workshop where you can get specific advice on preparing taxes for different types of businesses, from sole proprietorships to corporations.
