Smirnoff Sponsoring Bloggers
I’ve noticed recently that Smirnoff are sponsoring blogs and blogging events, a little different on scale from the usual things they sponsor.
An example of the latter would be the Silent Disco, a series of events where everyone wears headphones and dance in their own world.

But these events are pretty large and a national campaign. They’re also sponsoring smaller events, or at least the Moscow Mule team are. They’re supporting the London Bloggers Meetup, providing a mixology session for the attendees.* They’re also running a contest with Londonist, to win a …read more
JWT Grad ad
I received an email asking me to post this, I’m guessing as I’ve written previously about the JWT graduate videos. Made for a budget of 0, this is an tribute to the Smirnoff ad, also from JWT London. I think they could have done with a little more cutting on this one.

FT 5 top advertising videos of 2007
The FT have a run down of the biggest advertising videos of 2007, as measured by views. I’m not sure of the numbers are those direct from YouTube or have been provied by agencies/brands. I had a little, tiny bit to do with the Smirnoff one ;) I’m not going to embed them all here (I think I’ve mentioned many of the already, just going to say why I like them.

Smirnoff Sea
Diageo has produced some superb TV ads in its time, especially for Guinness. Smirnoff have now joined that tradition with a new UK ad called Smirnoff Sea.
I’d love to see this in full screen HD, it’s a wonderful piece and gets to the heart of the the Smirnoff Purity idea. (I’d link to the video on the site if they had deep-linking).
