My good friend Dr. Thomas Ho made me aware of a development from Google this evening that I think will be pretty interesting if executed well. And let’s be honest, most of what Google does is done fairly well.
It appears that Google will be adding some social search functionality to their toolbox. Currently in development in the Google Labs, we’re told it should be coming publicly available soon.
The idea is that when you search, there will be results offered from those in your social networks as well. So, if you’re searching for images, you can bet that your friends images …read more

I’ve been continuing to enjoy my experience and use of Aardvark as a social search tool and service. Most of my involvement has been as someone that’s trying to help others with their questions.
I was recently contacted by Aardvark’s CEO, Max Ventilla, who let me know that they would be redesigning their website to highlight and promote the functionality of social search.

The formatting of how to use Aardvark with twitter is very straight …read more

I’ve been playing with a new service the last few days called Aardvark. The service combines the idea of social networking with search to create a social search application. This is something I’ve been wishing for for quite some time. There’s a big difference in my opinion in doing a search and considering the results of a million 10yr olds thinking something is cool in Google’s algorithms and getting qualified, expert results instead.
What happens is that you register for the site and as part of completing your profile you provide areas in which you consider yourself having some expertise. …read more

The social search technology in Me.dium is the latest partner in the IE8 search strategy. Joining with other partners like eBay, Facebook, and Yahoo! the IE8 software is coming closer and closer to the final product that we’ll be seeing hitting the market.
Me.dium’s Social Search has a unique ability to harness the activity of the crowds to let users find information that has relevance based on what people are actually looking at right now. This enhances Microsoft’s IE8 promises to deliver the best browser for what people do every day, making that experience faster, easier and safer than ever. Searching …read more
