That’s because in the Packers new 3/4 defense, he out of his usual three-point stance.

If you watched the Packers and Vikings game on Monday night, one of things you may have noticed was that no one was calling Aaron Kampman’s name very much. That’s because in the Packers new 3/4 defense, he out of his usual three-point stance. Kampman has had a couple really great years as a pass rusher and sack leader, but has struggled under the new defense that Dom Capers has installed.

Now, if I own a football team, I’m keeping a player like Aaron Kampman and rethinking the 3/4 defense. Especially if that defense can’t stop a run for the most part and is part of the team’s mediocre start to the season. This slow start has been documented enough that rumors have started flying about Kampman’s departure.

Capers has been noncommittal, saying that “The things we’ve asked him to do, I think he’s done and done a good job. I think he had some good pass rushes (against the Vikings). It didn’t show up in terms of sacks and that type of thing, but he did a nice job.”

Will Kampman stay? I certainly hope so. I’d like to see the defense accommodated to deal with the talent on the team. I’m a “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” type of fan. Kampman wasn’t broken, in fact, he was one of the few shining stars the Packers had. Whether he will get back to his shining style of play remains to be seen.

Like every other fan of the sports world, I’m sick of hearing about Brett Favre. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Packer fan and he was our guy for a long time, and I personally think he got treated like crapola at the end. I also think he didn’t do himself any favors by the way he acted. Despite being sick of hearing about him, I can’t stop writing about him. That is what Favre does to us.

But here’s the thing, I WANT to see Brett Favre play for the Vikings. At this point, (God help me) I think I would like nothing better. Here’s why.

I want to see Favre compete again. Especially with a West Coast Offensive team. I was pretty amazed that Favre even learned Mangini’s complicated offense last year. He’s known as a talented player but not necessarily a studious one. He learned a brand new (phone book sized) playbook, which certainly surprised me. I expected him to not be prepared and play at least one or two games. But he did. Still, with the West Coast Offense he’s been playing for years, I really want to see what he can do.

I want to see him go out in a big way. If this is truly going to be his last year, I want to see him be wildly successful or completely inept. None of this mediocre stuff.

I want to see Favre play “pissed off.” No one plays better under adversity, and Favre going to the Vikings surely qualifies as that. This is when he plays his most exciting game. It won’t always be glorious, but it will be interesting to watch. Love him or not, he is definitely entertaining.

I want to see the Packer defense step up. I love a defensive game, and if Favre is the quarterback to beat on the other team, it surely means a great defensive game on the part of the Packers.

Favre in purple will allow it to sink in once and for all that he isn’t truly a Packer. He still says “he’ll always be a Packer,” but if he’s in a purple jersey there’s no way that can be true. Going from Packer green to Jets green (and a completely different league) was a slight change. Going from green to purple means something far different to Packer fans.

I hate to even bring up this name… this name that has received so much attention it’s ridiculous. A name that brings excitement, anger, and fascination. But I have to. That’s what Brett Favre does to us.

Is it just me, or does the news with Favre never even really seem like news anymore? Even today, when I read that he’s had successful surgery and has met with Eric Sugarman from the Vikings again, I think: Didn’t he already do this? Didn’t he already sign with the Vikings? Isn’t it a done deal?
But this [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Is it just me, or does the news with Favre never even really seem like news anymore? Even today, when I read that he’s had successful surgery and has met with Eric Sugarman from the Vikings again, I think: Didn’t he already do this? Didn’t he already sign with the Vikings? Isn’t it a done deal?

But this is the thing. Is it ever really a done deal with Favre? He’s kept us speculating so much these last few years that even when I hear a genuine (fresh) news item now, I think it’s old hat.

Here’s the next date we look for when it comes to Favre: July 31st. Either he’ll be in Mankato, Minnesota wearing a purple jersey… or he’ll announce his retirement. Again.
