Joey Logano must feel like the dark skies that had been around him have parted and he can finally see the sun, as after a season that has seen the 19 year old racer ride ups and downs, he finally captured his first win of the season in a rain shortened affair at New Hampshire’s Motor Speedway at Loudon.
Nervous minutes before Joey Logano had been sitting against his No. 20 race car, trying to look cool and collected as he waited to hear if he was going to capture his first win due to the intervention of Mother Nature. The …read more

Kasey Kahne had a hard time finding Victory Lane after winning Sunday’s Toyota/SaveMart 350 held at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. It has been awhile since the No. 9 Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge had to find its way to the winners circle and Kahne had to ask for directions to find the crowd of fans and industry professionals waiting to pay homage to the latest winner of the 2009 NASCAR season.
Kahne had to fight off early challenges by the field, but once he got up to speed the quality of his ride and driving skill started to take over. He had to …read more

Many people think that a NASCAR Sprint Cup race is about longevity, that the driver that’s able to just drive around comfortably and save his car has a better chance of making it to the finish line first. This certainly is just not the case, while managing your car and its resources is ultimately a major factor in determining the final standings in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Winning a NASCAR Sprint Cup event certainly requires considerable more than just surviving the carnage that often takes place on a NASCAR track. In fact I would argue that with the advances …read more

On Tuesday, Scott Speed and Paul Menard made headlines after being announced as drivers on two Sprint Cup cars. Speed was rumored to take over for A.J. Allmendinger in the No. 84 Red Bull car and Tuesday it was finalized. Menard moves from DEI to Yates Racing and will bring over his Menards sponsorship.
Menard was one of two drivers at DEI that had a full sponsor, but he will be taking that with him to Yates. Now, only Martin Truex, Jr. is left at DEI with a full sponsor. Menard has gone 68 career races with …read more

A.J. Allmendinger doesn’t have long left in the No. 84 Red Bull car. Allmendinger, who is expected to be let go by Red Bull, is now in search of a new job. Last weekend, Allmendinger impressed on the Kansas Speedway at the Camping World RV 400 after finishing in a career-best ninth place overall.
Allmendinger started the race in 14th and moved up to a high of sixth place in the race, yet finished in ninth. “I always feel like I have something to prove, especially when you’re told you might not be the guy that’s going to …read more

As if the weekly uncertainty of engine failures, chassis setups, and oil spills on the track didn’t already make it hard enough for you to set your fantasy racing lineups each week, the Daytona 500 is especially tough to prepare for because of the factor that must be taken out … momentum. Sure, we know how these drivers ran in 2007 and how much the progressed or regressed from 2006, but does that really tell us how they’ll do in ’08? Well, luckily for you, I’m here to provide you with the same service I’ve provided for every Cup race …read more

After winning the Super Bowl with the Washington Redskins in 1991, Joe Gibbs turned around the next year and decided to enter the realms of the NASCAR [then] Winston Cup Series, and he’s done nothing but reap the benefits of that decision ever since. With only Dale Jarrett driving for the team in its first three years, they finished 19th, 4th, and 16th in points from 1992 to 1994. After ’94, …read more

After experiencing some success in the open-wheel market, Team Red Bull decided to purge into NASCAR late in the 2006 season. Except, it wasn’t exactly a “purge”, as they failed to qualify in the three races they attempted. Shaking off the disappointment from their trial runs in ’06, the team looked ahead towards the 2007 season after purchasing the old Penske race shop in Mooresville, NC and aligning with the Toyota brand as they, too, made their debut in the NASCAR [then] Nextel Cup Series.
