Sprint has released a new screen saver for their Now network that takes advantage of our quest for information and data. You can pull in your favorite sources of information you want to know about and see them presented on your screen when you’re not busy working. The service also pulls in data from many of the most popular social media networks as well.

My only problem is my computer is rarely sitting unused long enough for me to take advantage of a screen saver. However, I’ve now got the Sprint Now Network screen saver running.

Mail-in rebates are a royal pain in the rump. The fact is that the companies that offer them count on you not mailing them in.

The Sprint Palm Pre

I bought an HP Notebook last summer that had a $50 mail-in rebate. I mailed it in the first time and it was sent back saying that one of the numbers was illegible. So I rewrote it, printing very carefully and even took a picture of the serial number so Joe Idiot over at HP would have no excuse to send it back. Seven months later and I still had not received the rebate check. I called them and the guy at the other end was actually very helpful and a week or so later I finally had the check in hand.

According to Gizmodo , the advertised price of the new Palm Pre by Sprint of $199 is after a $100 mail in rebate. They say you can avoid having to get the mail-in rebate by simply purchasing the new mobile phone at Best Buy and Radio Shack where the $100 rebate will be instant at the register. They also say that Best Buy is in the practice of making mail-in rebates instant at the store. That’s something nice that I didn’t know because I’m often turned off from a sale because of a mail-in rebate.

The Palm Pre does look like a cool little phone with all sorts of goodies. It’s getting some really great reviews so far. The biggest problem that a lot of people have is that it’s on the Sprint network. The Palm Pre gets an official release on June 6th.

I’ve discovered yet another feature that doesn’t exist (that I’m aware of) on my cellphone or anyone elses. Normally when I’m onsite with a client I’ll turn my cellphone ringer to completely silent. I don’t want it on vibrate either, that’s just annoying. I usually have the phone sitting right in front of me and notice it when the screen lights up, I then pick-up the phone and answer it.

What I’d like to be able to do is to have a secondary ringer that I can specify in certain situations. I know I can set specific ringers for different people in my address book. The problem is I want to change ALL the ringers for a specific amount of time.

Does your cellphone allow you to do this? Does someone that uses the PPC-6700 like I have know a way to accomplish this request? Let me know.
