Heading into Week 6, now is a good time to take a look at the bottom of the NFL power rankings. These teams have virtually no chance of making the playoffs. In fact, they may as well look toward next year because their 2009 NFL season is basically over.
1. St. Louis Rams
The Rams are just horrible. Their defense showed some signs of improvement early on but they’ve regressed in recent weeks. Their offense? It’s offensive.
2. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders don’t have a horrible defense but their offense is so bad that they earn this spot in the NFL power rankings. JaMarcus …read more

With the NFL season about to kick off in a few weeks, it’s time to take a look at which teams are destined to be bad in the 2009 NFL season. Here are the worst teams in the NFL as of this moment.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With a rookie coach and no quarterback standing out so far, the Bucs appear to be headed to a poor season in their 2009 campaign.
4. Oakland Raiders
For the Raiders to be decent, they need JaMarcus Russell to play better than expected. Don’t count on it.
3. Kansas City Chiefs
It’s difficult to find any bright spot on …read more

La’Roi Glover, who made six pro bowl teams in his 13 years in the league, has officially retired from the NFL. The 34-year-old Glover played the last three years of his career with the St. Louis Rams.
Said Glover in a press release announcing his retirement: “I’m blessed that I was able to play this game that I love for so long. It has been such an incredible journey. Possible NFL Destinations for Michael Vick

Michael Vick is officially out of jail. While the NFL isn’t in his immediate future, it’s time to start figuring out where he may ultimately end up. He’s not returning to the Atlanta Falcons but a number of other teams may be interested.
What are the top destinations for Michael Vick? Here is our top five:
1) San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers need a quarterback and head coach Mike Singletary should be able to handle the Vick distractions.
2) Seattle Seahawks
Matt Hasselbeck isn’t getting any younger and Vick could take his time in getting ready to return to the field.
3) St. Louis Rams
The Rams …read more

Brian Leonard has been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals from the St. Louis Rams. In return, the Rams received Orien Harris. The 25-year-old Leonard will likely begin the season as the Bengals’ starting fullback.
After being selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Leonard played in all 16 games for the Rams in 2007. He finished the season with 303 yards on 86 carries. He also had 30 receptions for 183 yards.
In 2008, Leonard only played in two games and had two carries for seven yards. No longer in the Rams’ long-term plans, Leonard has reportedly been shopped …read more
#2 2009 NFL Draft: Rams Pick Jason Smith
April 25, 2009 by Allison Boyer

Matt Stafford went first, as expected. The Rams weren’t exactly happy with that, but they had to have expected it. St. Louis had a number of choic when it came to players, and many even suspected that there would be a trade. Some expected Mark Sanchez, and Eugene Monroe was also likely considered. In the end, they went with left tackle Jason Smith. The Rams need him, and that’s definitely solid pick as second, in my opinion.

He’s great at what he does, and he really has the …read more

Over the weekend, we reported that Torry Holt was close to signing with Jacksonville Jaguars. On Monday, those rumors became reality when Holt signed a deal with the Jags that could pay him as much as $20 million over the next three seasons.
Holt’s contract has a completely guaranteed first year, however he won’t receive a signing bonus. Of the $20 million, approximately $7 million is based on incentives.
There’s a great chance that Holt emerges as Jacksonville’s number one wide receiver in 2009. He didn’t play well for the St. Louis Rams last season but he also had a few injury …read more
Torry Holt Close to Signing with Jaguars

Torry Holt, who has spent his entire career with the St. Louis Rams, is reportedly close to signing a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the deal should be finalized soon but the ink hasn’t yet been placed on paper.
The Jaguars desperately need a wide receiver and Holt would be a very good option. The 32-year-old out of North Carolina State is coming off the worst statistical season of his career but he’s been one of the most productive wide receiver in his ten-year career.
In total, Holt has 869 receptions for 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns. …read more

The St. Louis Rams have been searching for a backup quarterback. This weekend, they were able to sign Kyle Boller, previously of the Baltimore Ravens. The Rams had previously been trying to sign Gus Frerotte to be Marc Bulger’s backup.
After being the Ravens’ first round pick in the 2003 NFL draft, Boller never lived up to his expectations. The best year of his career came in 2004 when he had 2,559 yards passing and 13 passing touchdowns to go along with 11 interceptions and a completion percentage of 55.6%. Last year, Boller missed the entire season due to a shoulder …read more

The big news on Thursday was that the Chicago Bears traded for Jay Cutler. However, that wasn’t the only move the Bears made. Chicago further fortified their offensive attack by signing free agent offensive lineman Orlando Pace.
The contract Pace signed with the Bears is reportedly for three years. The final two teams that he was considering were the Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. He apparently decided to go with the Bears after word came out that Chicago had landed the coveted quarterback.
Pace was once regarded as one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL. In recent years, Pace has …read more
