To get to this level of poker, here are some tips to gain an edge on your opponents:

Use the early stages of the matchup to get an understanding for your opponent. The blinds are low so it’s a good opportunity for you to use them to gain information to find out who you’re playing.

Try to play players you have a winning record against. If you can beat someone, keep going to the well until you start losing or they refuse to play you.

Don’t show your cards or specifically a bluff. Bluffing is essentially the lifeline of heads up and you don’t want your opponents to have a strong distrust of you.

Avoid outrageous plays. With headsup, you don’t need to make bold moves to be a winning player. You should be looking to grind out wins rather than make the highlight reel on ESPN.

Once you gain an edge, pound away at your opponent. If you have a chip lead, constantly apply pressure on their shorter stack with raises and bets and make every decision be a tough one.
