Capcom is not neglecting the PC gaming crowd as the worldwide leading gaming developer and publisher has a Windows-based PC line-up this coming July. Starting with Street Fighter IV this July (3rd July), followed by Bionic Commando and finally the highly-acclaimed Resident Evil 5 at the end of this year.

The PC version of Resident Evil 5 will feature online co-op play and 3D gameplay (thanks to NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision technology). Wearing the 3D glasses will either make the zombies more macho or make you dizzier.

The fighting genre has seen somewhat of a resurgence lately, with games like Soul Calibur IV and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix bringing people back into the virtual ring. In the next few months there are several interesting fighters being released on Sony’s platforms. So in this weeks edition of the Top 5, we take a look at the games that have us most excited. Unfortunately, we could only come up with 4 :(

4. Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Handheld fighting games don’t have the best track record, but there is a lot to be excited for in Dissidia if you’re a Final Fantasy fan. The game pits characters from all 12 games in the franchise, allowing you to enact battles that were once only possible in elaborate fan fiction. Ever wanted to know who would win if Squall and Cloud got into a scrap? Sephiroth versus Gabranth? Well, now you can.

3. The King of Fighters XII

Despite the onslaught of 3D fighters flooding the market, there really is nothing better than a great looking 2D brawler. Much like SSF2THDR, the upcoming King of Fighters XII will feature incredibly detailed, hand drawn 2D visuals. The result is the game looks absolutely stunning in motion.

2. Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion

Though the game was announced not too long ago, it’s hard not to be excited for a new Tekken game. The console version will be slightly altered from the upcoming arcade edition, though in what way we still don’t know. What is known is that the game will feature online multiplayer matches, new gameplay innovations, and a massive cast of 42 fighters. Now we just need a release date.

1. Street Fighter IV

The latest entry in arguably the most popular fighting franchise will bring Street Fighter back to its roots. The game will stick with the 2D style that made it so poopular, reduce its cast to (mostly) familiar faces, and simplify the overcomplicated gameplay that plagued SFIII. The result looks great, and should be on the wish list of every fighting game fan out there. Get ready to get your hadoken-on in February

It’s a slow news day today, but hey, look on the bright side. That’s more time to play games! And with all of the great games flooding store shelves lately, time is something we can all use.

Capcom will be getting their very own digital storefront on the PlayStation Store, where you can pick up the likes of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, 1942: Joint Strike, and the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Speaking of Street Fighter, rumors are swirling that Street Fighter IV will have a total of 26 playable characters. Weird, considering that thegame was supposed to bring the series back to its roots.

If you were looking forward to the upcoming Sonic Unleashed you may be disappointed to here that the PS3 version is being pushed back until December. But hey, if means we actually get a good Sonic game, I’ll be happy.

Sure the PSp and the PS3 have lots of cool cross-functionality, but who really knows about it? Apparently, not enough people as Sony has expressed a desire to better promote the interconnectivity between the two.

Now in fancy-pants English and everything!
This is a pretty interesting bit of something. It’s a trailer for an anime called Street Fighter II: Aftermath. It’s connected to Street Fighter IV; whether or not it’s included within the game somewhere isn’t too clear, but it would lend reason as to why Chun-Li is getting in our faces on Street Fighter IV’s American box art. Europe’s box art features that angry, overweight Puerto Rican bread vendor again.

I’ve long been into Street Fighter lore, so I kind of like what’s going on in the video here. The World Warriors have fought and scattered, [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Now in fancy-pants English and everything!

This is a pretty interesting bit of something. It’s a trailer for an anime called Street Fighter II: Aftermath. It’s connected to Street Fighter IV; whether or not it’s included within the game somewhere isn’t too clear, but it would lend reason as to why Chun-Li is getting in our faces on Street Fighter IV’s American box art. Europe’s box art features that angry, overweight Puerto Rican bread vendor again.

I’ve long been into Street Fighter lore, so I kind of like what’s going on in the video here. The World Warriors have fought and scattered, but the adrenaline is slow to die down.

The trailer’s focus is Chun-Li, who I guess is looking for her father and stands to never catch him (DED). Guile is lusting after Charlie’s military-tightened bum and his drugged-out wife cuts him free.

Guile: “I have to go now.”

(”My planet needs me.”)

The “random dudes” at the start of the video sound pretty fake. I hope they’re just placeholders. Capcom, I recommend you spend a bit of coin and get some real drunken bums for the final product.

It’s more likely than you think.
Street Fighter IV has begun showing up in Japanese and American arcades—yes, the latter exists. In fact, this handy-dandy Street Fighter IV tracker marks the location of cabinets outside of Japan. My advice to you is to move fast.
(And my advice to whomever is maintaining this list is to consult a map of Southern Ontario before marking Richmond Hill as “Toronto.”)
Not all of us find graveyards to be cheerful places, so here’s the question: When’s Street Fighter IV coming home?

Street Fighter IV has begun showing up in Japanese and American arcades—yes, the latter exists. In fact, this handy-dandy Street Fighter IV tracker marks the location of cabinets outside of Japan.

2009 looks likely; it’ll be Street Fighter’s 20th Anniversary and it will make the bone-crunching and blood-squirting that much more solemn and profound.

Producer Patrick Aiello confirmed the timing with Gamedaily:

“Capcom is releasing Street Fighter IV in 2009, which is the 20th anniversary of the game. The film and game release dates will coincide, but I’m not certain how much of the game will coincide with the story because ours is a very partitioned off origin story of the Street Fighter universe. So the release dates will coincide, elements between the two will coincide, but in terms of them relating to each other perfectly, I don’t believe that’s the case.”

Shucks, what could possibly go wrong if the film coincided with the game’s story?

Poop on you, E3. It’s not like we needed your boring old statistics, anyway. The games are the real champions of the show, and Kombo.com has a nice hands-on of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV.
Bonus trailer with chatty Street Fighter bitches that need to get on IRC!

Lucas DeWoody, who has a pretty adorable last name, wrote in his fighter’s log:

Know what I’m gonna do as soon as I get this game? Bust out Guile, bitches.

“Street Fighter IV took some time to get there, but at this point it’s safe to say that this is the most bold, beautiful, and complete 2D fighter in forever. Even with the limited selection of characters on the show floor, it’s plenty deep enough to satisfy the hardcore tourney player (the new Focus fighting system), but welcoming enough to bring back that old school 35 years old Bison player who only remembers how to Psycho Driver back and forth the whole match thanks to familiar controls. It’s probably the first fighting game since the golden age that has the ability to cater to both audiences. “
