Strikeforce has announced Fedor Emelianenko’s first opponent, and it will be none other than hard hitting Cinderella man Brett ‘the Grim’ Rogers. The news was announced at an open training session in New York, and has many people divided on how they feel.
Here’s the deal: so long as Fedor – considered by many to be the best MMA fighter on the planet – isn’t in the UFC, there’ll be a whole segment of fans who won’t be happy with any of the opponents he faces. To them, it’s Brock or bust. Or at least Randy Couture or something! Having Fedor …read more

Saturday night is a historic night for mixed martial arts as Strikeforce puts on the first female superfight in the history of the sport. Women’s MMA has been around for a long long time, but this marks the first time that a fight featuring females will headline a major promotion’s event.
The fight in question is Gina Carano versus Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos. Gina as a former muay thai fighter turned mixed martial artists who some of you might recognize from her time on the new American Gladiators show where she played ‘Crush’. Cris Cyborg is the most feared female in mixed …read more

A welterweight title fight between Nick Diaz and Jay Hieron at this weekend’s Strikeforce show has been scrapped because Nick Diaz didn’t show up for a drug test. The California State Athletic Commission revealed over the weekend that Diaz hadn’t shown for a Friday test and gave him a new Monday deadline. But Diaz didn’t show and the fight was called off.
Why did Nick skip out on the testing? Because he knew he would fail. Nick has never kept his pot smoking a secret and has paid for it several times in his career. In 2007 he was suspended for …read more
Fedor Snubs UFC, Signs With Strikeforce

Last week UFC president Dana White and billionaire exec Lorenzo Fertitta did their best to lock up Fedor Emelianenko, the #1 fighter in mixed martial arts. Shockingly enough, the Russian fighter said ‘nyet’ to them and a deal potentially worth up to 5 million so he could say ‘da’ to Strikeforce, a promotion in distant second place to the UFC. Just to be clear, nyet means no and da means yes. I just wanted to be 100% clear on which offer he turned down, since it’s pretty freaking crazy.
The reason behind Strikeforce’s coup? They agreed to the one sticking point …read more

While Gina Carano was in New York City preparing for a press conference to promote her upcoming fight against Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos, her ex-boyfriend was in Las Vegas making all sorts of interesting comments about her.
Kit Cope is a kickboxer and mediocre MMA fighter who’s best known for an appearance on MTV’s True Life and a run in the WEC that ended with a positive test for steroids. Actually, that’s not really true. Kit is best known for being Gina Carano’s ex … they were actually engaged at one point.
Now don’t ask me why he did this, because I don’t …read more
Tito Ortiz Talks Return to the Cage

Tito Ortiz is once again claiming he’s close to returning to the cage. After flirting with Affliction and EliteXC for several months while contractual hold-ups with the UFC and back surgery kept him on the sidelines, he is now claiming that Strikeforce is looking like his new home … sorta.
According to Tito Ortiz, he will be starting a new promotion with Strikeforce called Punishment Fighting Championships, which Tito will both manage and compete in. I have no idea how the hell that’s supposed to work, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the ‘new promotion’ is just a differently branded Strikeforce …read more
