With that in mind, we’re ready to announce the winners of the caption contest from earlier this month!

To jog your memory (and to remind us that the candy OD is fine because we jogged and then ran on the treadmill for a long time today), we invited readers to submit a funny caption for this A-Rod photo:

Participants had to use each of the following three phrases in the caption: strikeout, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Sarah Palin.

We asked The Bee and the other half of Team Revision (a.k.a. Pinky) for some help, and we picked not one but two winners. In no particular order, the two winning captions are *cue the drumroll and ignore the fact that it’s a cliche*

Early Trick or Treat: Caption Contest Winners

*Blushes and acts oh-so-coquettish*

It’s our one-year blog-iversary!

To celebrate 365 days of snark, scandal, and (sometimes) supermodels in the world of sports, we’re holding a contest.

The game: See that paparazzi pic of A-Rod below? Submit a caption in the comments. But wait! Not just any caption. You have to use each of these three “s” words: strikeout, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Sarah Palin.

The prize: A copy of Jordan McAuley’s book, Secrets to Contacting Celebrities. The funniest caption, as determined by an independent panel, will win.

Not stalking. Contacting. Got it? Good. We don’t want hate mail from celebs. (No it’s OK; we laughed at the thought of a celebrity being aware of our existence, too).

So, here’s the picture. (FYI: He’s dining in NYC here, but this isn’t his recent meal with Madonna). And remember: strikeout, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Sarah Palin.
