Well, Friday is finally here, and as the snow quickly forms mountains outside it feels like the perfect time to do some serious gaming. Thankfully the PlayStation Network has plenty of great new games, add-ons, and demos to spend some time with. Here are the headlines for today.

• LittleBigPlanet has received an update, which improves the search functionality in the game and adds an in-game store, the LittleBigStore, naturally.
• In other LBP news, next week will see the release of Metal Gear Solid themed costume and item packs.
• If you’ve yet to play the terrific WipEout HD, a demo will be hitting the PlayStation Network on Christmas Eve.
• If you need some help getting in the holiday spirit, check out the latest SingStore update, which will bring all sorts of Christmas themed songs to sing along to.
• Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has shattered sales records, selling upwards of 250,000 copies since launching on the PSN.

Today in PlayStation: December 19, 2008

It’s a good day today, as two hotly anticipated (by me anyways) games have finally been given release dates. Which ones? Read on to find out.

• Finally! Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix has a release date, and will be hitting the PlayStation Network next week. Hadoken!
• This weeks LittleBigPlanet DLC includes a television costume, as well as a pack of adorable Loco Roco themed outfits for a cool $2.99.
• The mysterious safari game Afrika is finally coming to North America, and has been redubbed National Geographic: Africa.
• Rumors suggest that LittleBigPlanet developed Media Molecule has signed on to create three more PS3 exclusive titles.
• The PSP will be getting yet another update, though this one won’t add much outside of improving software stability.
• The PS3 exclusive DLC for BioShock will be available tomorrow, which adds bonus challenge rooms and a new game plus mode for second playthroughs.

Today in PlayStation: November 19, 2008

It’s a slow news day today, but hey, look on the bright side. That’s more time to play games! And with all of the great games flooding store shelves lately, time is something we can all use.

• Capcom will be getting their very own digital storefront on the PlayStation Store, where you can pick up the likes of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, 1942: Joint Strike, and the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
• Speaking of Street Fighter, rumors are swirling that Street Fighter IV will have a total of 26 playable characters. Weird, considering that thegame was supposed to bring the series back to its roots.
• If you were looking forward to the upcoming Sonic Unleashed you may be disappointed to here that the PS3 version is being pushed back until December. But hey, if means we actually get a good Sonic game, I’ll be happy.
• Sure the PSp and the PS3 have lots of cool cross-functionality, but who really knows about it? Apparently, not enough people as Sony has expressed a desire to better promote the interconnectivity between the two.
