GC 2007: Operation Flashpoint sequel video—in-game or not?

]]> There’s another FPS coming to town, and what better venue to show off the latest trailer than the 2007 Leipzig Games Convention in Germany? The game: Operation Flashpoint 2. It’s not exactly new since it’s a sequel, and it was also announced four years ago, but you know what I mean.

If you haven’t heard of the original, then shame on you. The original Operation Flashpoint was a tactical shooter set in the Cold War. Did I mention it had great reviews? The sequel, however, looks like a different beast altogether.


Instead of the Cold War, this installment will take place in modern times. The conflicts are fictional, but bits and pieces are based in real life. The video clip looks nice, but would the game look anything like it?

The short answer seems to be yes. According to a recent GameSpot preview, the renders were produced using in-game models. The article may not have explicitly stated that the video was taken in-game, but its solitary screenshot is presumably taken from the video.
